Is there really such a word as “Stupid”. What is it really? 

People say this often, with spite and ridicule towards the person being referred to, I certainly am guilty of this. 

According to the Overview of the Multiple Intelligences Theory there are 9 types of intelligence; musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic, existential and moral intelligence.

So could a person be so lacking as to not possess at least one of these ability? Should we call the person retarded instead of stupid?  But isn’t that the same as calling them stupid?

Maybe we call the person stupid just to label them as such... some one lacking and is therefore inferior, who we do not see as equal, not even average, not the norm, therefore separates the person from how we see ourselves. This estranges the person’s identity from us. An egotistical way of looking at it.

How can one stupid person tell that the other is stupid when both of them are lacking? They would not see the difference from each other. Both will be blissfully unaware for they will be staring at themselves through each other’s eyes and like what they see. 

In recollection, I call a person stupid to stop them from an argument that catches them off guard and makes me feel like I won the argument when I really have not I have just impeded them from further conversation. I’m very insecure that way. 

A self-actualized individual would brush off being called stupid or even see the real reason of the other person for calling them as such but those are just a minuscule amount of individuals who walk among us. Most people are lost, bitter and hurt inside with very fragile egos. Such words might not be debilitating to a person’s perception of self at first but if repeatedly told so might be integrated into the person’s belief and impede their growth.

Why then do we do stupid things? Maybe it’s ignorance. I’m not sure. There are many factors why we behave stupidly but I don’t think it is lack of intelligence.

ig·no·rance:  lack of knowledge or information. ( /ˈiɡnərəns/)

Now to say a person is ignorant makes much more sense. As per definition it only says that they lack proper education about the matter or a proper understanding that can be corrected.

The dissipation of of ignorant behavior though does not only involve the act of acquiring knowledge but self-awareness with the idea that there is a lack and the person’s willingness to learn and apply the knowledge otherwise you might as well be talking to a stump.

If only Oprah... But not everyone is like you. I am speaking only for myself. I think I lack the application of knowledge. 

Just to let you know I feel like a hypocrite for posting this. But, I consider writing in my blog as therapy and maybe someday I will look back and read my posts and try to apply it to myself. This post is a very shallow take on the topic and mostly based on personal experience.

Spatial Intelligence: The ability to visualize 3D images in ones head. It is also known as being picture smart.People with this intelligence to well in design, architecture, painting, crafting, etc.

Musical Intelligence: The natural ability to pick out different pitch, notes and tones. Also very good at memorizing melodies and has natural rhythm. People with this type of intelligence make wonder musicians, composers, vocal or instrumental teachers, etc. 

Signs that are likely to have this type: Taurus, Leo, Libra, Scorpio, Pisces

Intra-Personal Intelligence: These people are very self-aware and know their feelings well. They make great writers, actors,poets, therapist,philosophers, etc. 

Signs that are likely to have this type: Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Pisces

Logical / Mathematical Intelligence: What first comes to mind when people think of intelligence. These people have a natural understanding of math and numbers. This type of intelligence is used in research, teaching, finances, engineering, etc. 

Signs that are likely to have this type: Aries, Gemini, Virgo, Capricorn, Aquarius.

Existential Intelligence: Deep thinkers who often question why they are here, what their purpose is, and if they even have a purpose. They try to see the big picture and think beyond just life and death. People with this type of intelligence are often spiritual or religious leaders, philosophers, paranormal researchers, etc.

Signs more likely to have this type: Gemini, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius, Pisces

Naturalistic Intelligence: These people have a natural intellect for plants, animals and survival skills. They make good farmers, outdoors-men, florist,zoologists, biologist, etc.
