The Probie, the Pilot, & the Perpetually Sarcastic One

His husband had a crush on the new probie.

Of course, Tommy wasn't admitting to it - but Sal was married to the idiot and had been for a while now. He knew what the faint rosiness around his cheeks and the fluttery hands meant. Even if Sal didn't, the way that Tommy kept talking about the probie, like the kid had hung the moon, was a bit of a dead giveaway.

Sal was waiting for some sort of jealousy in his gut, something ugly and destructive. He was good at that sort of emotion, shaping it into a weapon with a pointy end - at using it to almost ruin Tommy and him both , separately and together, before anything could bloom between them.

But that sort of ugly emotion never came. If anything, Sal was amused - he trusted Tommy. With something much more delicate than just his life.

This was just a crush. Sal knew that. And it was kind of cute to watch his Tommy be so excited.
