Truly, from the bottom of my heart, I have had SO much fun this year - more fun than I’ve had in all the years I’ve spent in the 911 fandom. You folks filled my dash with spectacular art and a stunning number of amazing fanfics and gif sets. You wrote thoughtful meta posts and cute headcanons that made the pairing feel rich and complex despite its short life. You fuckers made me laugh out loud with your always-hilarious shitposts.

I hope that some of you, like me, will be able to come back to this ship when the disappointment feels less raw. I hope we can continue to make and share creative works about a pairing that has brought us a lot of happiness. I’ll never believe that Buck and Tommy’s relationship was a waste, because it’s special. It has meaning. The show itself will go wherever it goes, but fanon can’t be taken from us. That’s the nice thing about it.

It might take me a few weeks, but I know I’ll be able to enjoy what we made together again and eagerly look forward to the creativity to come. I hope you all can too.

Need a “Hey handsome” “Hi cutie” exchange between Tommy and Buck in season 8 so bad, man. I need Buck watching Tommy and Maddie bond from a distance and then awkwardly interrupting because he thinks they’re discussing him. They say they weren’t. They were. I need a lot of dry wit/humor from Tommy that most people wouldn’t get but Buck absolutely adores. Buck finds one of Tommy’s hoodies/sweaters left behind in his loft and just claims it. Tommy notices him wearing it once and just smiles to himself. I want Buck wrapping Tommy up in one of the 118’s bizarre hijinks and him just rolling with it. I need them visiting each other’s work places. Buck dropping off containers full of Tommy’s favorite meals. I want Tommy getting into the most mind boggling logic defying completely batsh*t crazy accident known to man and have Buck completely spiral for an entire episode. Only for Tommy to survive and the emotional and psychological trauma binds them together forever because that’s how life works 🫶🏾❤️

the thing that is pissing me off (besides this show being so narratively inconsistent that it assassinates characters every three or four episodes but THAT'S A PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER POST) is that buck does everything for everyone and never complains about it and he gets yelled at and made to feel bad for every single thing he does. he takes care of other characters' children for them. he saves peoples' lives. he does what is asked and he goes above and beyond for everyone. and any time he reaches out to the guy who calls himself buck's best friend, he's emotionally slapped down, called an idiot, called selfish, he makes himself small so there's less of a target. there is literally nothing he has done within canon to deserve this treatment. eddie fucking sucks. he's a bad friend and honestly a bad father and i don't like the fact that i have to watch him on tv being rude and mean to buck in every goddamn episode. UGH!!!!!

i said this to my friends earlier and i'll say it again here: it's so funny how after 8x06 i was like ohhhhh i want buck to go and be there for tommy he needs to show up for tommy (see: every fic i've posted since that episode aired) and now i'm like FORGET ALL THAT TOMMY HE NEEDS YOU!!!! WE NEED YOU TO MICHELLE BRANCH ALL YOU WANTED THIS MAN!!! this episode really has radicalized me, lol.
