Seven (ish) Sentence Sunday

Been working on this one for a hot second, let's see if there's any interest in it.

“Eddie, when you disappeared in 1588, I thought I’d lost you forever. The twenty years it took you to claw your way back . . . not a good time for me.”

“Oh, really, because it was a great time for me, you know, walking along the bottom of the ocean and all.”

He could almost hear Buck’s teeth grinding as a muscle flexed in his jaw. Eddie was hundreds of years old, had spent literal centuries learning to control not only his emotions but also his base instincts, and yet fighting with Buck was the one time his temper got the better of him.

He tried not to focus on the fact that any time he was around Buck, his emotions simmered a lot closer to the surface than he’d like, his control fraying quicker than that one time in Bruges (don’t ask).

I'm gonna be honest I think I'd be disappointed if buddie actually becomes cannon

romantic relationships are literally everywhere

anywhere you go you're being force fed amatonormativity and that the only form of "love" or bond that matters is romance and that the person you choose to be your partner in life and to make a family with has to be a romantic one

and that the most important relationship that you have should be the romantic one

and then here's buddie

proving the amatonormativity wrong

they're raising a son together they're partners they trust each other they love each other their bond is stronger than with anyone else they're best friends they act like a married couple

they date other people but that never takes time away from each other or sacrifices what they've already built together

that's beautiful

they don't need to be romantically or sexually attracted to each other or he in that type of relationship to have those things

and yeah we can all tell the intention is to make it as queer as possible for the bait if it all, but what's become of it in the process of the baiting is so special to me

like that type of relationship representation is so hard to find anywhere let alone a mainstream popular tv show and its so important

because you don't need romance or sex to have a partnership with someone, you don't need those to raise a kid, you don't need those to have a deep meaningful bond.

if those are things that you want in life you can have them with or without sex or romance

(you also just don't need to have any of those things in your life if you don't want it but I digress)

it's like Athena and Michael's relationship (when he was still in the show rip), they're not married anymore they're not in a romantic or sexual relationship but the care and support and love is still there and yeah their relationship changed a lot but they didn't lose the important parts

there's just so many different types of relationships and so many different ways to care and support people that goes beyond just "friends" or "romantic/sexual partner" and I'm clutching non romantic buddie in my representation starved claws until the day my long dead body decomposes
