9. When baking chocolate chip cookies
Mina yelps as she accidentally splatters cookie batter on her own shirt while mixing it in the bowl. she groans, and puts the container down, swiping the mix off with her thumb before popping it into her mouth. Her eyes shine because despite the accident she's please with how the batter tastes.
"Here." Mark's voice cuts through her thoughts, and when she looks towards her best friend, he tosses a crumpled piece of cloth towards her. She means to catch it, but it hits her on the face instead, causing Mark to break into laughter. Mina pouts even as she unrolls the item to reveal an apron. It makes her smile, because while Mark continues to laugh at her, it's obvious that he cares enough to note her clumsiness.
She puts the apron on - never mind that it's too late since the batter's almost done; her clothes and her face are powdered with flour, sugar and syrup, even. Soon, she's moving onto the next step and lining the cooking pan with glops of the batter. At first she's so focused that she once again completely ignores Mark, at least until he's standing right next to her, finger dipping in the bowl.
"Yah!" She screeches, her tone unnaturally high pitched from the surprise. "Yah!" She repeats, yanking the bowl away with one hand, and hitting his arm with the other. "Don't eat the batter raw or you'll get salmonella," she lectures sternly - never mind that she had been picking at it herself earlier, while she'd been mixing it.
"Mina, please -" Mark retorts with a huff, followed immediately with laughter and with his hand reaching over to try and once again dip his fingers in the mixture.
"Look, Mark, I love you but--" Before she can even finish her sentence, Mark pokes a little too hard at her side, causing her to let out a loud squeal while accidentally letting the bowl drop on the floor. "I love you but now you need to clean this up!" She screeches, throwing the whisk she was still holding in her hand straight at her best friend's head.
