Nine of Swords

Tarot card back from May 2020. Edgar Poe seemed like a good choice for a card about anxieties and nightmares. I feel very deeply for people throughout history who had untreated mental disorders.

This was one of the first pieces where most of the color was traditional rather than digital. I was starting to branch out in the types of colored inks I was purchasing (not that there's a lot of color on this page) and this would be the beginning of starting to explore color more thoroughly. I had always been self conscious of color, thinking I was no good at it; I had ruined many pencil drawings by coloring them, but I'm finally at a place now where I can apply color with abandon. Thank you, Nine of Swords, for being a part of that path forward.

Worst card to draw ever! Not my original image, but I couldnt resist turning it into a burn. I saw it on a friends reel while i was restocking the normal tarot set. After a rather difficult night with not much sleep and my back feeling pretty out of place this morning, I get the distinct feeling today is gonna be a very rough one. But the rain is falling, I have a session of Dungeons and Dragons with my friends to look forward to this evening... it’ll be rough, but so long as I don’t let it bog me down, I think I just might come out of this unscathed. I'm gonna try something different for this #tarotchallenge - I'm going to use an app on my phone to see if that makes it easier to stick with! The challenge that I'll be doing this way is #theoctobertarot by @lionharts #day1 is my theme for the month, and I'm not surprised to see the #9ofswords here tbh. It was already my intention to address my fears and worries this month. Fall always leads to #shadowwork for me, and I know it's time for me to address everything that hangs over my head.
