At The Hospital Overnight (ER)
Logging my experiences my first time overnight at a hospital in the ER wing.
[12:00 AM]
Quiet discussions, one of the staff members is watching a movie.
[1:00 AM]
Some shuffling, overall silent.
[2:00 AM]
A man in his late 50s or early 60s came in complaining of chronic pain. He’s the first non-staff member we’ve seen since we got here.
[3:00 AM]
Silence. I don’t know what happened to the chronic pain guy.
[3:15 AM]
Woman in charge of psychological evaluation finally arrived. Evaluation went as expected.
[3:50 AM]
Psych-Boss left to check into important details.
[4:00 AM]
One of the nurses is discussing the ethics of Physician-Assisted Suicide with her coworkers. She seems bothered by the fact that they are against it because she “believes in individual rights” and thinks it’s stupid that “if [she’s] pregnant, [she] can make the choice to end that baby’s life, but as a full grown adult [she] can’t choose to end [her] own”. Most entertainment I’ve had all night.
