Wait, what was Hamilton and GWash's biggest fight and what did Lafayette had to do with it?
Oh my gosh!!! Are you talking about the stairs arguement? This is one of my favorites!! Check it out:
So.... Washington turned to Hamilton and asked him to meet upstairs in ten minutes after finishing up his task. Hamilton agrees.
Anyway, while he is walking up the stairs Hamilton runs into Lafayette. Lafayette, who we respect and adore, starts talking to Hamilton. And Hamilton is like ‘Laf, Laf, BRO, I gotta GO.’ But Lafayette just keeps chatting away. It’s a good couple of minutes of Lafayette talking as Hamilton tries to politely say ‘Bro, BRO, I gotta go.’
So, finally, Hamilton gets up to the stairs and Washington is on the top step, pissed. He’s like ‘Bitch, how dare you make me waste my time. You are so disrespectful, bitch!’ or something like that. And Hamilton, notorious hot head, goes ‘Bitch you are disrespectful! How dare you! Bitch!’ They go back and forth but eventually, Hamilton storms down the steps and leaves.
Lafayette, hearing what happened, tells Washington it was his fault and that he didn’t know Hamilton was busy. Washington, for his credit, did admit he was wrong and apologized. Hamilton, seizing on the opportunity, asks for a command which George tells him no. Hamilton continues to fight with him until eventually he comes back to work.
I heard this from @fihli who tells it with much more accuracy but yeah.
I’m not sure what G Wash and A Ham’s BIG arguement was but I’m sure it had to do with the command, if I had to guess. I do know that Ham was pissed G Wash cockblocked him from joining up with John Laurens in SC. I’ll have to research it for sure though.
