Ruby in Volume 7 “Gravity”: Realized that they hadn’t yet rescued everyone from a dangerous situation and, in her desire to do so, insisted that everyone remain in that danger with her until all were saved. She then proceeds to throw herself back into the conflict without a plan for how to achieve this. The concept of following rules is outright rejected and saving as many as possible is framed as a villainous choice. 

Tuvok in Voyager Season 1 "Learning Curve”: Realized that they hadn’t yet rescued someone from a dangerous situation and, in his desire to prevent others from being killed, insisted that everyone leave the man left behind. He then proceeds to throw himself back into the conflict, endangering only himself, with a clear idea of what he needed to do to succeed. The concept of following rules is upheld with the acknowledgement that sometimes you need to bend them and saving as many as possible is framed as a heroic choice, especially when one does that while also taking on a purely personal risk to save more.
