I still can’t get over how Nesta’s apartment was located in the “slums.” Mostly because I don’t understand why it was necessary to mention it, unless you wanted to make Feyre and Rhys and the rest look like snobs. But it also doesn’t bode well for their rulership when this is suppose to be like the perfect city that was protected at all costs.
Of course, I don’t hold this against the characters. I just don’t understand what was suppose to be the point of certain things that were established in this book. Would it not have just worked to say Nesta lives by herself in an apartment that she doesn’t pay for, where she’s drinking and hooking up indiscriminately, where they are also fitting the bill? Is that not simple and does the job?
Because if you are introducing the concept of money and income inequality and earning a living, then... I think there should be some resolution as to what happens there. But it’s not mentioned ever again. So, I just don’t understand.
Am I suppose to take this as Nesta lives in the cheapest apartment because she doesn’t want to use their money, but that’s now conflicted with her using their money to self destruct? Am I suppose to take this as, we clearly see these people have all the money in the world, and they neither enforce a equal society or care about poverty beyond themselves and how it makes them look? Am I suppose to look at it as they would have been perfectly fine with Nesta’s self destruct if she was “earning” that money?
But if any of these are the case, then it should also follow to some conclusion, but again it’s never mentioned at all.
