Sort of an x reader request, I have had a bit of a bullshit idea ive wanted to give someone. Rohan x reader except rohan gets turned into a rat for the majority of the story (turns back to human at the end) and its like
Its almost like a "would you still love me if i was a worm" situation, the reader caring for rohan nd trying to help despite him being turned into an animal. Rohan has to communicate via rat body language. Maybe the reader makes him the little headband as they work on hunting down the stand user that did this. Im picturing not quite romantic but more than platonic.
Its a bullshit idea. If you dont want to do it, feel free to toss my ask without hestitation. but Im so curious on how one would execute it. Im not a selfshipper myself but I make a lot of jokes about Rohan being my lab rat, which is an angle you are free to omit or include if it provides more inspiration. I care so much about him its like "well now.I gotta put him in a... Situation"

He was never going to live this down.
You couldn’t breathe, tears streaming down your face as you kneel by the road in the long grass, you're laughing so loud as you keel over with your head pressed against the floor. There was no way this was happening.
“Rohan… How the fuck?” You can’t even finish the sentence as you start giggling again, palm against your stomach as you try to breathe properly.
“A rat? You got turned into a rat?”
Oh he was pissed, watching from his tiny rat body as you fell to the floor and laughed at his misfortune, an angry grumbled squeak from his mouth making you laugh even harder.
You tried to push him out of the way of the stands attack in your defence, but Rohan being Rohan dragged you behind him and took the full attack in your place as the stand user fled, and now…
He’s a rat.
Even just a tiny glance at his angry little body made you cackle so hard you couldn’t breathe, eventually slipping into little giggles as you calmed yourself with breathing exercises.
If he hadn’t needed your help to find the user he would have left you by the road by now.
“Okay Rathan, come here.” His beady eyes watched you with barely contained tiny fury, no way were you going to call him Rathan and get away with it.
He lunged for you as you leaned down, biting into your finger like a feral animal, making you glare at him with a yelp.
“Rathan Ratshibe. We can do this the cheesy way. Or we can do this the hard way.”
You held your hand out with a warning look, waiting for him to come to you before you just picked him up instead.
There was no way he was going to let you pick him up.
How humiliating…
Unfortunately for Rathan, you knew him too well. Lunging and grabbing him before he could bolt, holding his small body with gentler hands than he’d expected you to. Squeaking angrily as he thrashes in your grip, if he kept it up he was going to hurt himself, his small heart pounding in his chest.
“Please, I don’t want you to get hurt, just let me carry you for now.” He stops moving for a second, watching you with distrust, you sound scared as you try to hold him in a way that won't crush him.
The tiniest huff leaves him as he lets you just hold him, refusing to look at you in embarrassment.
You open the pocket in your shirt for him to climb in, he stares at you like you just killed his rat family in front of him. You bite back a laugh so he doesn’t start moping again. “Rathan, it's the pocket or I hold you the whole time…”
He squeaks once before climbing off of your hand and into your pocket, little paws holding the top so he could peer over and watch as you bend down, looking for something in the grass.
“There they are.”
You grab whatever it was and slip them into your pocket before he could see, a huff leaving his nose as you begin walking back towards Morioh. As much as you want to find the stand user you should take Rathan to Jotaro and make sure he’s going to be okay.
He would never admit it.
He actually enjoyed the attention you were giving him right now, talking softly to him about whatever was on your mind, eyes wandering as you walked on the grass so it was softer to step on, avoiding unnecessary movement so it didn’t jolt him.
Your eyes widen as you see a beautiful flower, it’s your favourite, he remembers you telling him one night months ago when you couldn’t sleep and snuck into his house. He complained. He didn’t kick you out.
“Are you hungry, Rathan?”
God this is humiliating.
He was not going to let you feed him.
“What about some plums? I don’t want to give you anything that might be bad for your little rat body…” His eyes narrowed as if he could will you to stop bringing up he was a rat.
“Okay sorry, not plums?”
Why was it so hard to communicate with him as a rat, he loves plums, you pout as you think what else rats can eat. A grumpy squeak from your pocket as he looks away from you, dramatic as ever.
You get the plums anyways, and some yogurt for him as you carry the bag in your other arm, damn it he was hungry. He hadn’t eaten this morning either before you asked him to come on a walk with you, which he only agreed to for ‘inspiration.’
He was never going anywhere with you again.
“Here…”
You handed a small bit of bread towards him, that's right, he forgot that you’d made food for him.
He gave you a small glare, hoping you wouldn’t ever bring this up again as he took it gently in his paw, slipping into your pocket to eat it away from prying eyes.
Yours.
“Jotaro, if hypothetically, someone were to get hit by a stand attack and get turned into some kind of animal. Let's say a rat? What would someone do about that? Hypothetically.”
He sighed through the phone, grumbling a ‘good grief’ as he stopped flicking through whatever papers he was looking at.
“Y/N.”
“Joot?”
An audible groan at the nickname as you smiled towards Rathan, unconsciously nudging his paw with your finger gently.
“Did someone get turned into a rat?”
“Of course not! Just hypothetically if someone had… What would I do about that?”
Rathan was glad you weren’t saying it was him, even if you were mildly torturing him right now.
“It happened to my buddy Eric once, you just have to wait it out… Sorry it isn’t better news but. Hypothetically. They’ll be fine, it lasts a few days at most.”
“And was Eric okay after? No hypothetical side effects I should worry about?”
An almost laugh as you keep pushing that it's all not real, even though you both know that you wouldn’t have called for that. You’d have bothered Rohan about it.
“Hypothetically. They’ll be okay.”
“Thanks Joot, tell Splat I love him.”
He rolled his eyes before hanging up, still turning as Star materialised and saying you loved him regardless.
“Okay Rathan, good or bad news first?”
You aren’t sure why you thought you would get an answer other than a grumpy hiss from his bared teeth.
“Well Jotaro said you’ll be fine… But we just have to let it wear off.”
You can feel the anger in his small body as he crawls back into your pocket, huffing as he sits so he can brood silently. Until your finger pats him on the head, softly stroking his fur before moving away again, trying to comfort him.
He didn’t even mean to fall asleep pressed against you in your pocket, breathing gently and relaxed as you sit on a nearby bench to not wake him up, watching the clouds as he snored very softly. It was incredibly cute.
He’d be pissed if he found out.
“Rathan? Do you want me to get you a wheel?”
You could feel his eyes glaring into you as you placed him carefully on the table in his living room, walking to the kitchen with a soft hum when he hissed again.
He watches you leave with a small fall in his posture, eyes following your every movement as you slip into his kitchen like you’ve done it a thousand times.
Why didn’t you take him with you?
You come back quickly with a plate with some plums cut up into small pieces, even a sauce tub with yoghurt in it as he stares at it like you’ve poisoned it.
“You didn’t tell me if you wanted a wheel… You like to work out every day, you can’t just sprint around your house and I don't think there's a rat setting on the treadmills in your gym.”
Rathan’s eyes narrowing again, ears pulled forward as you tilt your head and watch him before pulling a small notepad out and writing something down.
A squeak leaving his mouth as he stands on his hind legs, nose looking up to try to see over the pad. You write again and put the notepad on the table, letting him look at your albeit terrible rat drawings of his posture and what you think they mean.
Did his ears just change colour?
“Wait, I have an idea!”
You quickly write two words at the bottom of the page. Yes. No.
“Will you let me buy you a wheel?” He thinks about it for a second, Jotaro said it could be a few days… Yes.
“Do you want the plums?” Another yes.
You thought for a second, wondering if he would want you to leave, there wasn’t much he could do if you did…
“Do you want me to stay out of your way?”
He stares at you for longer than you wanted him to, it was a little creepy to be watched so intently by a rat.
No.
You smile happily as you lean over and place your finger near him, giving him the option to move away if he didn’t want you to touch him. He doesn’t. He huffs as you pet the top of his head, pretending it was the worst thing in the world.
Until it was and you placed your hand on top of him and jiggled him softly with a laugh. His tiny eyes watched you in horror as you stepped away.
You were lucky he didn’t have his stand right now… That being squeaked, he hadn’t actually attempted to use it yet.
He was furious. His stand materialized before plopping onto the table next to him, a white rat with a hat on.
“Oh my god… It’s so cute, Rathan and Heaven’s Rat…”
This was the worst day of his life. He has to kill you now, no witnesses.
Before his stand could even touch you to write ‘Will not jiggle Rohan’ he realised he fucked up. Your own materialising in front of you protectively and picks his up in its mandibles, he hadn’t even expected you pull it out…
Nor has he seen it til now.
It was terrifying from his perspective, a giant orchid preying mantis looming over him like it wanted to eat him, his own stand hanging in its mouth almost delicately.
“You promised to never use Heaven’s door on me…”
He squeaked softly, moving towards the edge of the table, almost praying you’d understand it was a mistake.
Your stand dropped Heaven’s Door in your hand carefully before you placed it on the table and withdrew your stand before turning to walk out of the door.
He promised you.
It was almost dark when you slipped back into the house,
Rohan asleep on the table where you left him, food untouched by his side as you sigh and take the plate into the kitchen.
You pull the small baby blanket you bought out and cover him lightly before sitting on the couch nearby, watching his body rise and fall with every breath.
He was such a little asshole sometimes.
But you weren’t going to leave him when he needed someone.
“Hey Rohan.”
His small head whipped up at your voice, eyes wide and groggy as he watched you. “I got you your wheel, you should eat something before you sleep.” You’d already placed fresh fruit by his side, a soft whimper slipped past his mouth before he could do anything to stop it.
Distressed as he stood and moved towards you, blanket slipping from his body.
You’d called him Rohan again.
“Don’t do it again Rohan. I mean it, I’m trying to help you.” A tiny nod of his head as he looked at you.
You’d been crying.
He was an asshole. And he couldn’t do anything to fix it.
“Eat. I’ll find somewhere for you to sleep.”
He didn’t put up a fight when you gave him a small box with a comfortable blanket in, not even when you gave him a soft pet on the head before laying on the couch next to the table he was on, facing away as you stay by him.
“It’s cute right?”
You had to be kidding... You made him a collar.
You hadn’t meant it to be a collar but it's not like he had hair to keep the little cut-out headband up.
You made him a replica of his own for him to still wear as a rat. A huff as he let you put it on him, he owed you for yesterday, he’ll let you have your fun for now.
“Hey Rathan? When you're back to your usual self, we can go after the user. I pinned him down yesterday after I left, I didn’t wanna risk getting turned into a rat and leaving you here alone.”
His ears pulled back slightly as you talked, you’d gone after them.
Alone.
“Don’t give me that look, I had no intention of fighting, just tracking I promise.”
He let it go for now, he could be mad when he was back to normal.
You watched him intently as he used the silly little hamster wheel you’d gotten him, your eyes ecstatic as he ran til he was too tired to keep going, jumping off of it and plopping onto the table with a squeak. Body flat as you stared at him, his eyes closed as he got his breath back, tired and content.
Until your hand curls around him again, jiggling him before grinning and bolting away before he could bite you. A grumpy exhale leaving his mouth as he plopped back down, he was going to get you back for this.
He doesn’t have time to squeak in response when you come back into the room before you pick him up and hold him to your face.
And lick the top of his head.
“That’s for yesterday, asshole.”
He couldn’t even be mad about it, he deserved that one, even if now he was wet. Grinning as you place him back down on the table before heading into the kitchen to get him something to eat.
“Rathan you do not taste good.”
“Then don’t lick me dumbass.”
You peek your head round the corner with a giddy smile, knocking him onto the floor when you jump at him, barely a hug with how hard you were crushing him, thankfully still wearing his clothes. That would have been mortifying.
“Get off me idiot. You licked me.”
“I miss Rathan. He was so much nicer to me.”
A roll of his eyes at your pout as he pushes you off and stands up, walking like a baby deer now that he only has two legs again, a giggle slipping from your mouth as you watch.
“I’ve been a rat for two days. Stop laughing.”
“You’re lucky I didn't put you in the maze…”
His eyes narrow slightly as he watches you sitting on the floor by his feet. You hadn’t even bothered to stand yet.
There's no way you made a maze for him to find his way out of.
But the way you were grinning he’s glad he didn’t have to find out that you had.
“Hey Rathan?”
“I am not answering to that.”
“You just did…”
A sigh leaving his lips as he glared at you, almost regretting that he wasn’t a rat anymore.
“What do you want?”
You stand and reach into your pocket before handing him his earrings back, so that’s what you picked up…
“Would you still love me if I was a rat?”
