Sometimes Sara really overestimated her own abilities and strength. While on a good day she was pretty capable of balancing a lot of things given her extensive experience in that field, she never had to wait tables with a toddler bouncing around her, clinging to her legs every so often. “Shion-ah, I can’t hold you right now. My hands are completely full.” A long day of daycare, he was crankier than usual because apparently he hadn’t slept properly during nap time. And while usually he wasn’t too much to handle, with her hands full of groceries and him whining for her to get him, and the elevator to their building broken, it was just a terrible day on the whole. “Okay, okay,” she gave in once they reached the landing. Well once she did because he was still on the stairs pouting, clearly on the edge of crying if she didn’t comply. Putting the bags down, she went and picked him up, tucking him into one arm as he clung to her. “Okay, let’s go.” But bending to get the bags was proving difficult and before she knew it, the weight of one had caused the bottles and boxes within to end up on the landing rather than in her arms. Wonderful.
