PSA to allos:
"Not attracted" does NOT equal "repulsed".
That's how come a-specs can have consensual sexual relationships.

People are going and shredding those pride calendars because they include pangender and a-specs. It makes me sad because they hate everything they don't understand. They still cling to the believe that pangender is a "rasist invention" without bothering to look for the definition which clearly has a cultural clause. They're also whitewashing by thinking all pangender folks are white :(
Thank you for the info, but that’s just so awful…I had no idea people were actively disrespecting Pride Month because of a false assumption on pangender identity (just because of the pan!!!) and because they don’t validate the asexual/aromantic spectrum :/ Please, people, talk to us, hear what we have to say before condemning us.Also, a-specs deserves visibility and respect! We belong in the ALGBTQI+ community! We are a part of Pride Month!
We can make our own space.
Maybe it’s because I’m used to not fitting into places that I’m not worried about the LGBT community accepting aces and a-specs into their space. Yes, people have stuck the + and the A on the end of LGBT to include the other non-allosexual entities, but we don’t need to be lumped together. We don’t need to fight to be accepted by another community. We can make our own space and accept each other. Will there be intersections? Yes. You have gay aces, you have trans aces, bi aces, etc. You also have hetero aces, some of which have never experienced and never will experience the level of discrimination that LGBTs have experienced. You can be in the LGBT community, and you can be in the Asexual community. They don’t have to be the same community.
I’m aware that this is an unpopular opinion, but I’m going to stick by it. Let’s just be the Ace Community.
Ok, so allo is a slur bc it lumps lgb people in with hets... so by that logic how is lesbian or gay not a slur? I mean, you're putting trans people in the same group as cis people then. (Obviously I think this is quite ridiculous, and reminds me of "cis is a slur" bs)
Gay is a slur tho - a reclaimed slur. But yes, I understand what you say.
REGs (reactionary exclusionist gatekeeper) like to swear up and down they are “protecting” +lgbt from a-specs. Protection from WHAT they’ll never say, but I have a break down of who needs protection from who…
Things REGs have done to the community:
Harass Regress our community’s progress by giving reclaimed terms back to oppressors Introduced rhetoric that is now being used against every non- LG Bonded transphobes, biphobes, and basically all violent gatekeepers together Literal death threats Hating non straight people for their non straight orientations Burying non straight orientations so they cannot receive help and/or continue to feel lost and hopeless/die
Things A-Specs have done in the community
Introduced and popularized cool new ways of understanding sexuality and romance
Expand community and therefore expanding resources
Spread visibility of a-spectrums and stop people from feeling broken and alone
Unconditional acceptance for all non straight peoples
I wonder how many Demi romantic gays and gray homosexual Demi panromantics and all the huge array of descriptions the terms that a-specs created with the popularizing of SAM would have created, if this was introduced much earlier to the community. Bisexual or Demi pansexual gray heteroromantic? Are we all in agreement that these terms are open for anyone to use? A-spec or allo?
I’m just gonna officially choose the word aro-cross and ace-cross to describe heteromantic and heterosexual AND otherwise different gender attracted a-specs - if you have a better word you’d prefer we’d gladly defer to you :)
