Week 7 Monday - BCR Day 1
WAS HORRIBLE IT WAS SO HORRIBLE WHY DOES THE SCHOOL EVEN HAVE THIS SYSTEM IF THE INFRASTRUCTURE CAN’T EVEN HANDLE THE LOAD OF THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE TO LOG ON TO THE SERVER FROM HOME.
Okay maybe it was because this was actually one of the first few times that the entire school was having BCR at the same time instead of doing it faculty by faculty but my point still stands; if the system can’t handle it, why do it in the first place???
Behold, NP thinking BCR was a good idea.
It’s especially bad since our project file is on the server. Every time I rotated the camera in Maya I had to wait 30 seconds. Every file reload for textures took a minute and every save (no matter in Photoshop or Maya) took almost 5 minutes. Today was so unproductive, ugh.
I managed to finish the floor plane for the interior of the barn, texture it and give it a bump map. I also plugged that into the environments for referencing, and edited the height of the house and the fence which were too high and were hovering at least a meter up from the actual terrain. I also managed to edit the textures for Shot 120 where Pep and Jack are plowing the ground and the colour of the ground changes.
It’s really not much and I could have been so much more productive. But yeah well I guess it’s a lot better than not being able to get anything done at all.
Not looking forward to tomorrow.
