DID ANY OF THEM? Did anyone who ever even simply stepped foot in one of these restaurants ever ask for what came of it all? From the children barely involved to the underpaid employees to the victims to the two families at the start of it all... the blood soaking every restaurant hidden behind banners and birthday decorations has never been kind to anyone since the first accident. Michael KNOWS that, but she makes him stall in his words anyway. It's true, that neither of them asked for the way this place has stained them... but there is an unequivocal difference that separates Michael from the rest. He deserves it.

Blood remains on his hands, forever sewn into the decayed cracks of his palms. He shouldn't even be talking with her. Keep himself separate, never let them see too much of everything. If he has to be an asshole to keep her off his tracks, so be it.

He seems to jolt back into his body ( hah, it hasn't been his for years ), shrugging his shoulders as he avoids her gaze. "You're still here, though. You know you could quit any time if you hate it so much, right?" Maybe the night guard shouldn't be endorsing other employees to quit, but really, she'd be better off if she did. "If neither of us want to be here, there's no reason for you to get yourself involved in whatever doesn't get you your paycheck."

although not quite as disoriented as the first time he was abducted, the city still made Yumichika feel rather out of place. it was large, as was the Soul Society, but modern and confusing, loud and brash. for someone used to loud and brash, the city had a different cacophony. it was nothing personable like the sounds of sparring and swords clashing and rowdy men who had a bit too much to drink; it was foreign and unfamiliar instead, everything retaining a mechanical and metallic kind of energy.

there was a staggering lack of good spirit energy in a harsh concrete jungle, as well. the Shinigami often found himself in lush, green spaces, where the energy flowed just a bit stronger. even there, though, he could sense proper energy--especially when it felt familiar.

turning his head from his place on a park bench, Yumichika isn’t surprised to match a well-known face to the spirit energy.

“--Inoue,” he regards her as an acquaintance, though perhaps too casually. it’d been a while since he’d seen her, approximately around Abarai’s wedding. she seemed a tad younger. “They’ve abducted you too, then.”

SHE’S A HABIT OF THAT  ,  OR SO IT WOULD SEEM  ...  never quite one to hold herself back, every bit as fiery as her barbed tongue, even in battle. No matter how frantic it oft made Alphinaud to see her injuries  :  she didn’t seem to much care, as she regards him with a look of slight annoyance. Not at him, of course...  herself, rather. Her agitation is short lived as disgust flashes on her features  -  shortly after, she spits up blood her hand moving to hastily wipe her mouth clean. Though hunched over for but a moment, she gains her balance. The battle is over, she’s not reason to be cautious. Still, she is not steady on her feet, not entirely.

“  —  it hit harder than I thought it would,”  she concedes, her voice harsh, rasp, but her condition is nothing a bit of healing and a potion won’t fix. Her fingers twitch ‘pon the chakram she still holds, wondering where her other had gotten thrown on the battlefield. She isn’t used to this, just yet. Although truth be told, she isn’t even used to casting as a red mage  :  for one who took positions far out, she was eager to get in her enemy’s face.  “Oh, don’t look at me like that. I’m fine. It’s just a little  —  ugh. It’s a scratch.”

It isn't that he doesn't want to talk — in truth, the offer means a lot to him. To have someone there who is willing to listen, to hear him out, to care...

But he doesn't know how. He does not want to make anyone else deal with his thoughts - So he runs away, somewhere far away from the Sohma household where nobody can see him break.

Tohru sits by his futon now he has returned after going missing. He had come home in his zodiac form ; he has returned to his human form now, and is laying with the blankets brought up to his chin.

“ Thank you, ” he says, plastering on a smile. “ but I'm alright. I'm home now, see ? It's okay. ”
