DJBC Tumblr Summer '21 - The African-American Wellness Walk
I need to get caught up on Summer posts, because the last several weeks have been crazy busy, and there aren't enough hours in the day (or week) to do everything.
The African-American Wellness Walk was last month in Columbus, on the Near East and Near South Sides of the City, beginning and ending along the campus of Nationwide Children's Hospital. There were health and community vendors, freebies (yay for those), WCMH NBC4 as the Media Sponsor (I even made fast friends with a digital reporter, who loves the B*ckeyes), and we even walked past our former home studios, along the route.
However, the primary purpose was to raise awareness on Black Men's Health (primarily), but the health of African-Americans, who are less likely to seek medical treatment, and are at high risk for things such as diabetes, cancer, COVID-19, and need I continue? And there is a 3.1 mile walk through the Near East and Near South Sides to get people fit and to raise awareness on African-American health. They even had free health screenings. I took one.
The 2022 African-American Wellness Walk is Saturday August 13, 2022 in Columbus, at Livingston Park.
