There’s so much Russian stuff going on in Night Vale right from the start, like uncannily. (Well… On top of the regular uncanny.) Have you listened to The Deft Bowman episode yet? Because DAMN. It’s those kind of little hints all the way along a narrative that I love IN EVERYTHING FOREVER.
I might have to go back and listen to it again, because I’m on episode 49 (The Old Oak Doors B), but I don’t remember anything of The Deft Bowman, which is weird.
It’s really quite wonderful how I can just pick up this series and find that it is still as wonderful as when I left off. Now if only I can get to an actual live performance...
@abackwaterprincess SHIT I FORGOT TO ADD THE COOLEST THING SORROWS CAN DO (except it’s not really all that cool but you’ll find out why in a sec).
If he’s within a designated place of worship or cemetery, he can hear the unspoken prayers of those around him.
Which is to say, Sorrows can read the mind of anyone inside the building or sacred space, but he bristles if you ever phrase it like that. As far as he’s concerned, God has given him the ability to practice discernment of the soul--to tell who is truly repentant and who isn’t--and it is not something to be treated so trivially.

DON'T COME AT ME WITH THIS SONG. IT'S TOO MUCH.
IF I HAVE TO GO DOWN I’M NOT GOING ALONE.
It’s been in my head all morning. I can’t even with how bittersweet and well-written it is.

Ok I haven’t watched this episode yet but it looks like they’re in a fever hospital??? Or a lodging house??? But that might be because I was reading about both of those things earlier. >.>
Katie you need to get on watching this episode because feelings, they are eating at me.
And I think it might be closer to a fever hospital; shortly before they go in, Malcolm has her put on a mask because of the cholera running rampant in the area. So. Yes.
