I bought this on ebay so eventually we'll have better/bigger scans, but I couldn't wait to share the little article AND THE RARE AMAZING PHOTOS with all of you! Hopefully with the scans we will see the photographer's name (I believe these were taken on December 1992 when she visited Spain).
Shannen Doherty: "I get along better with my make-up artist than with Luke Perry".
Like Carroll's Alice, Shannen Doherty goes through the looking glass to mock a reality that sometimes overwhelms her. For the past 3 years she's been one of the most admired young women in the world thanks to the TV show "Beverly Hills 90210", renamed in Spain "Sensation of living", in which she gives life to sweet Brenda.
She's not the typical Sun tanned mad-about macrobiotic food California girl. Aged 20, and unlike her TV role, she's more worried about the ozone than the latest Ralph Lauren outfit.
"I am a woman who wears my heart on my sleeve. I hate anything artificial, the lies, two-faced people, double intentions. I am a no-additives nor colourant girl. One thing is the TV and the other completely different my private life".
Aged only 6 [sic] she debuted infront of the cameras thanks to Michael Landon, who gave her a small role in "Little House on the Prairie" and later in "Highway to Heaven". From making tissue makers rising their sales she went onto star in other shows and films, almost all of them for TV. Her big opportunity came from Aaron Spelling, who cast her in the role in which she got a big place among the 625 lines. How does she feel being the role model of teenagers around the world?
"I find incredible that there are teenagers who go mad for a boy or girl that they know nothing about, like in my case. I have never looked up to idols in my life and when I see everything that happens with the characters of the show I feel a bit weird. When I watch myself on the screen, I don't like me; there's no mystery, I know what's behind every movement."
The situations that are shown on "Beverly Hills 90210" reflect perfectly, according to her, Northamerican youths. "The show is pretty real, given that it addresses everyone's problems: drugs, alcohol, excessive speed, rape, AIDS... I prefer the episodes that deal with social issues than the sentimental ones, specially the ones about my relationship with Dylan... The rumour that he dies in my arms victim of AIDS is false. Luke Perry, the actor who plays that role wants to leave the show, but the producers don't allow him. It would be too much that he'd leave this tragic way".
What is the relationship between the main actors?
"We are a very tight gang, as in the show. Outside shooting we go to parties, we hike to the beach or ski in the mountains. My boyfriend is not like Dylan at all... I get along better with my make-up artist than with Luke Perry, my fictional boyfriend, anyway (big smile).
