I’m very proud of the #lovelyhugsand and myself tonight as we’re both feeling really ill, neither of us managing to sleep much, both wracked by awful coughing fits, and we managed to actually cook a simple and healthy dinner with veg and lentils and goats cheese and herbs. Yes it was a meal kit from #abelandcole but without it I’m pretty sure it would have been packet noodles and crisps for dinner. Between stuff (mostly a dearth of mental health and executive function) and other stuff (chronic pain, existential crises etc.) I’ve found cooking decent meals really difficult of late. I can manage super-quick and fairly unhealthy things, or much more elaborate and very unhealthy things. Anything else seems to elude me. So Ben and I decided we would splash out on one of these recipe boxes that people do and as Abel and Cole do one and we already get a veg box it seemed the logical place to start. Today we made the first meal, cauliflower tikka masala with rice and yoghurt. it was delicious, fairly simple, filling and didn’t entirely exhaust us. I am amaze. I’m aware it’s a privilege that we can afford this sort of service, and I’m hopeful it can help us re-set our cooking brains in time.
