Filled with storybook stone buildings, the town is ringed by famous walking trails and stately homes. But it's probably best known for its famous Bakewell pudding, a pastry shell filled with jam and a custard-like mixture of eggs, butter, sugar and almonds, invented in 1820. If you fancy tasting British beer, there's the Thornbridge Brewery, half a mile from the centre of Bakewell on the northwestern edge of town.
