okay so I’ll put this below a cut because it’s nsfw (though not graphic or explicit), but I’m going to talk about Amethyst Andrews and Kirsty Gilmore (in piece by piece)!

(TW: sexual content, references to past non-con and underage sex)

So Amy... oof poor Amy, let’s put it that way... Amy was failed by a lot of adults in her life, especially in the Serpents.  There were a few who’d always looked out for her, but the vast majority (led by Tall Boy) had absolutely no problem with manipulating a traumatized child and making her believe that her place in the Serpents was entirely contingent on her being “useful” and her only use was as a sexual object.  Her first time, thankfully, was with Sweet Pea and Toni though.  All three were too young but it came about because Amy was well aware that some of the adults were going to expect sex from her and she wanted her first time to at least be with people that actually liked her.  It wasn’t bad, but it was awkward and fumbling and Amy didn’t particularly enjoy herself.

As for wanting to have sex again... that’s very complicated for her... Amy is ace, and has very little real interest in having sex (especially back then) but her understanding of the world is basically “I’m only useful to people if I put out and no one will love me if I’m not useful”, so although she consents and often initiates, I’m not sure she’s ever had sex because she’s actually genuinely wanted to. (note: none of the ot6 know that amy doesn’t actually want to have sex and once they find out they’re all horrified that they’ve made her think that they wouldn’t still love her without sex!!!  they do not mean to make her feel pressured or obliged and they love her no matter what!!! they’re just all traumatized kids who can’t communicate).  As for how long before she has sex again... probably a couple of months with her actual partners, but it’s a week or two at most before she’s coerced into sleeping with some of the older serpents

Kirsty on the other hand, had a very different experience!  The first time Kirsty has sex is with Jess, the day they reunite in New York!  They spent the day together before Kirsty went to her rehearsal, but at the end of the night Jess met her outside of the theatre to walk her home and when Kirsty admits to how lonely/impersonal her hotel room feels, Jess invites her to crash at his place instead!  His roommates both work nights so they have the apartment to themselves, and neither of them were planning for anything to happen, but it did.  They were safe (Kirsty is the result of a teen pregnancy and has been on birth control since she was 12, Luke gave Jess a very awkward Talk™ that stressed the importance of condoms and he’s had one in his wallet ever since) and Kirsty was pleasantly surprised, to say the least.  

Kirsty’s understanding of sex has always been a mix of “it hurts but it feels good eventually” and being moderately traumatized by Miss Patty and Babette’s stories, so she was very insistent that she was fine despite being in pain (“I have a high pain tolerance, Jess, I’ve hyperextended both of my knees, I can handle sex”) but Jess is just like “um??? if it doesn’t feel good then clearly this isn’t working and it’s my job to fix that”.  It ends up being a really enjoyable experience and while she’s not surprised by Jess being considerate, she is surprised that there was no “grin and bear it til it feels good” required.  As for wanting to/having sex again, it’s a while!  On one hand, she had a good time and Jess is one of her closest friends, and it’s not that she’s not interested, but they haven’t really defined their relationship and she’s got her Broadway debut to worry about and neither of them really knows how to talk about their feelings, so they don’t pretend that it didn’t happen but neither of them really broaches the topic of a repeat for a long time!

“You don’t have to go,” he told her quietly.  “That wasn’t the deal.”

“You’re not going alone,” she argued immediately.  “We’re a team, right?  Ride or die?  Wherever you go, I won’t be far to follow.”

Jughead smiled slightly, reaching down to take her hand in his.

“Ride or die,” he promised.

Amy squeezes his hand tightly.

“Ride or die,” she echoed.

And with that, the two stepped into the forest.
