First up in the Final Fantasy VII OCs is:
Anya is what one of the two remaining "Old Guard" Turks remaining in service prior to late BC/CC -- a peer of Vincent and Veld who has served successfully for longer than most modern Turks have been alive.
Originally Anya was a part of ShinRa Security, which was eventually split into two separate divisions: the ShinRa Guard (which would be rebranded as Public Safety, and then split again into SOLDIER) and it's counterpart, the Department of Administrative Research -- what would become the Turks.
As her cousin was a high ranking Guard member, she chose to jump departments to Administrative Research. Having grown up in the unforgiving tundra around Icicle, she excelled in environmental survival and was already an excellent shot with a deft hand with small blades. As the story goes, that was where she got her codename, Shiv.
Catch her some nostalgic evening over a jigger of whiskey and you might hear tell of Shiva's daughter instead.
She also turned out to be excellent in admin work, and was exceptional at digging up paper trails -- and not leaving any. When Veld took began to really shape the Turks into what they are known as today, Anya was given the permanent position as head of the Junon Academy's Turk division, overseeing everything from supplies and classes, to rookie missions and who got passed on to Veld.
There are many Turks appointed to her team as well, all with fewer years of service, all loyal to her. To the relief and frustration of her fellow Turks and the executives in Midgar, her loyalty is strictly to the Turks, to the survival and continuation of them as a unit.
When Veld leaves to chase his daughter, Anya stays behind to support Tseng. She and her team lay low, almost vanishing into the daily workings in Junon, practically invisible to the board while they wait for their new director's call.
Anya can come off stern and brusque — and can in fact be both stern and brusque — but she’s not without a gentler side when she feels it is both safe and merited. She’s quite playful, though it’s not always recognized for what it is due to her particular breed of humor, some of which she can trace back to her father, some later to her decades with the Turks. Most remarkable beyond her mannerisms and tendency towards seriousness is her fierce loyalty, and practically gymnastic psychological adaptability.
Anya is not particularly tall at 5'3, but she has an air of authority that makes up for it, in addition to heeled black boots that bump her up an inch and a half. Her hair is long, ash blonde with gentle waves if she leaves it down, but she by far prefers to pull it back, braid it, and usually fix it up in a bun. She has light blue eyes and fair skin that will burn if she's not mindful with sunscreen (which she's learned to be.)
She wears a standard, tailored black suit, making no attempt to make herself visibly different from her charges. She usually wears business suits in varying dark jewel tones, even when Pres expects the women in dresses. She will make an exception for events run by other Turks or VERY close allies.
