Lia Belleville: Lia really doesn’t like it when people get super pushy with her, which leads to her really not liking Sookie or Lorelai at first

Lorrie Gilmore-Danes: Lorrie talks to Jess and Rory all the time and whenever there were issues at home (Luke & Lorelai being disasters or Lorelai & Emily fighting or Liz & TJ being worse than usual) one of them would come get her — if it’s during the week then they stay at the inn with her so she can still go to school, if it’s on a weekend then they ‘kidnap’ her for the weekend!

Is that [ALEX FITZALAN]? No, it’s just the McKinley student [MASON BROOKS] who is currently [17] years old and is a [SENIOR]. They go by [HE/HIM] and is normally known around Lima as the [THE BROKEN PEDESTAL] and are currently in [BASEBALL, ART CLUB, BOOK CLUB, AND NEW DIRECTIONS]. Hopefully no one finds out that they are hiding [HIS FATHER IS ABUSIVE TOWARD HIM, AND HAS BEEN THREATENING TO KICK HIM OUT THE DAY HE TURNS 18.].

First and foremost, he almost never goes by Mason. It’s the name his Dad gave him - it’s the name that’s been screamed at him so many times - so Mason is Brooks, and it’s all he’ll answer to. There are exceptions to the rule, but they start and end at his Mom, his Sister, and those he actually trusts. Otherwise, don’t be surprised if you find your way directly onto his bad side if you call him by his first name.

Brooks has felt like he had to be the man of his house since he was nine years old, and it’s never gotten any easier for him. Sure, his Dad had always been around - annoyingly so - but the man had never done much more than drag the rest of his family down. When they were short on rent, he was the one who had to piece the rest together; whether it was mowing lawns until his hands bled or selling the bike he got for Christmas. He was the one who drove his sister to school, and stayed up doing homework with her. He was the one who took care of his mother when she was too tired to even eat. Brooks has the whole world on his shoulders, and he thinks that’s why his Dad has always seemed to hate him. 

It didn’t matter how hard Brooks tried to take care of his family - it didn’t matter how many sacrifices he made - because he knew that no matter how hard he tried, his father would always be there to drag him down. 

No good deed went unpunished when it came to Brooks and his Dad. He couldn’t count how many times he had been on the receiving end of a drunken rage, or how many times he had been thrown around since his dad’s drinking had crossed the line of ‘an issue’ and become a monster all it’s own. He never let his Dad put his hands on his little sister - he’d step in to defend his mother every single time he had to, but that meant that Brooks became more or less a punching bag. Whether it was a brutal dressing down or a black eye to go to school with, it was hardly ever a few days that passed between the hellish bouts of anger. 

Brooks can’t help but feel like his whole life is a tangle of lies and secrets. He keeps his passions from his family - he can only imagine how his father might react if he found out about his creative side - and there’s not a soul he’s dared to tell about his home life. Even his closest friends are kept far away from the Brooks household. 

With the end of senior year quickly approaching - as well as his eighteenth birthday - his father is only counting the days until he can throw his son out onto the streets. Brooks has been saving money, but he’s terrified of leaving his mother and sister alone... he’s terrified of being on his own. In an attempt to keep the  peace and buy himself more time, even if it’s at his own expense, he’s been doing everything he can to play nice at home. Anyone close to him might be able to tell that it’s taking a toll on him, but he does a good job of pretending for everyone else.
