there are eight member groups all together. seven of those groups are divided between the three alliances: silver, golden, dark. the eighth are civilians.
the silver alliance is made up of individuals handpicked by the spinner. because she is partially to blame for the great rift between the stars and chaos, she is choosing those that she feels embody peace. ultimately, she wants to mend the rift and make things right in the universe -- so those that she chooses to wield her stars are likely to be people seeking balance in their own lives, or capable of creating balance.
the golden alliance is full of individuals chosen by the allotter. she craves balance, but she believes the only way to do that is to defeat chaos and send it back to the cauldron with its tail between its legs. she doesn’t see the need for peace so much as she sees a need to show chaos that it cannot stand against the power of the stars. so the people she chooses to wield her stars are going to embody heroism -- she wants people who will be champions; strong, courageous, and unrelenting.
the dark alliance is populated with individuals carefully selected by the unturnable. she has no faith that chaos will turn back from its ways and leave the universe in peace; in her eyes the only option is to destroy chaos altogether, and find another way to maintain balance in the universe. she doesn’t have use for second chances, and as such, she will choose people that she feels have the ability to do what needs to be done regardless of personal feelings. they will be strong willed and dedicated.
chaos, in a way, is a lost star. it might have been an ordinary start at one point, but it burnt out -- and instead of fading away back into the galaxy cauldron it has been lurking and feeding off its own darkness. it feeds of power, and power is created by strong emotions. it is more capable of corrupting a star carried by a human by manipulating seeds of the seven deadly sins, essentially. it just needs a hint of what inner turmoil a human has, even if they aren’t aware of it themselves, and chaos will seize it as a chance to bring that star to its side. ultimately chaos wants to consume the star -- no matter who it chooses as its body to destroy the universe, it has no intentions of living in that body. it merely needs a form to channel its own powers out into the universe.
so, with that being said, our member groups:
soldiers - they’re the first line of defense chosen by the stars. that means when it comes down to it, the stars are hoping that the soldiers will go in and do their jobs without needing to call on the reserve ranks.
generals - to some degree they’re the second linen of defense, but their job is to help bolster the soldiers. they have a connection to the soldier carrying the same star that makes them ideal in helping strengthen their powers in battle. in another sense, they’re protectors of the soldiers -- they have to ensure the soldier will live to fight chaos.
hunters - the third line of defense, or the backup defense. they too are chosen to protect the soldiers they share a star of power with, but they’re also the backup -- if there is no soldier, then it falls to them to pick up where the soldier left off. ideally they’re picking off specific enemy targets to clear a path for the soldiers, similar to a bodyguard.
wardens - they’re part of the fourth line of defense, and play a similar role to that of the generals. they’re job is to reinforce the trenches, so to speak. they’re more closely linked with their hunter counterparts, making sure that the hunter is able to do their job without any trouble.
regents - the final line of defense; basically, if all goes to hell in a handbasket, it’s the regents that will step in and take over. being older, and hopefully wiser, they’re going to have better mastery over their powers. it would be ideal for them to work with the guides to train their counterparts in the trenches, but that will probably depend on personalities and general time on their hands.
guides - these are the overseers and trainers of the stars. it’s their job to guide the young ranks in how to use their powers. and it won’t be easy since they’re having to rely on what information they get from advisors, and the stars themselves. plus, turning into a cat and gaining the ability to speak telepathically will take some getting used to. it’s a tough job, because in the end, the chosen ones will only be as good as they were trained to be.
advisors - the eyes and ears of the stars on the ground. really, it’s their job to keep everyone on task; the stars are more likely to communicate to them and have them pass the message along. they will have the ability to read minds, speak telepathically, track the location of a star of power, and sense when a star has become corrupted. they’re meant to protect the chosen ones, and will be considered point-men to the guides.
civilians - innocent souls caught up in the crossfire between the stars and chaos. they’re going to be manipulated, used, and lied to -- probably enduring injuries, broken friendships, failed romances, or being tasked with keeping some really big secrets (and maybe helping tend to the wounded as the final battle draws near).
but wait, there’s more to tell!
don’t think for a minute that when it comes to the final battle it will be all soldiers versus chaos. the stars are stars, and they’re not experts on humans. they can’t foresee how love, hate, trust and distrust, friendship, introspection, greed and honest-to-goodness fear will shape each star carrier as they learn to grapple with this destiny that has been thrust upon them. some star carriers may want a place in the final battle more than others. some may not even live to get that far, or choose to give up their powers for the sake of the universe. there’s a lot at play, and who knows who will actually end up in the final nine slots needed to defeat chaos.
the above is what the stars have plotted out through the breaking up of the nine ultimate stars of power -- but anything is possible. the only sure thing is that there will only be ten individuals chosen for the final battle. nine will fight for the stars, and one will be chaos’ pawn and host body.
and really, if the stars expect the alliances to form as chosen, they have another thing coming. there’s a very good chance the alliances will be mixed a few times as different people come into their powers at different times, and how new and old relationships/connections shape who is willing to work as a team.
