It’s Easter, and I have questions...
Just a random observation: Even when I was one years ago, I always found it odd that some Christians would get so caught up in the optional aspects of a religious day (like the meal, what to wear, how they look to family/friends) that they would miss the whole point of the day/celebration. If you come back from church pissed off, you’ve missed the whole point. If you weren’t hanging with family because you’re obsessed with getting the Christmas ham just right, you’ve missed the whole point.
So you’ll have to forgive me if I shake my head at those of you who miss the entire point of celebrations like today. This is supposed to be your biggest day! Your savior cheated death! And you’re mad because there was a mix-up over who was cooking the main dish? Mad because Sister So-And-So had a bigger hat or got special recognition? Mad because your kid didn’t get lead in the Sunday School Easter Play?
Pagans have 99 problems, but knowing how to be fully in the moment of our celebrations ain’t one.
