Winter Solstice!

Ahh, it’s finally here! 

Mine actually kicked off at 3:15am this morning, when I got a pretty powerful message from The Horned God that woke me up. He usually only pops up at the start of the year to give a little yearly advice, so this was a bit early but VERY timely. 

It continued during a nature walk where, when I inquired where to leave an offering to the Fae, a family of raccoons appeared and practically led me to a glenn of trees where I could leave the offering. Before leaving, I also spotted a bald eagle flying directly overhead. 

Tonight, like most of you, I have plans to really soak in the Great Conjunction and set some plans up for 2021. Have an amazing and magical night!

I haven't bought a new deck in close to a year, and walked into a favorite shop today with no intention of buying one. This deck called to me. Looking briefly through the cards now, I can see why.

Ugh, I feel like such a bad witch for not posting earlier on our biggest day of the year, but in my defense I was VERY busy.

I prepared some safe, no contact treat bags for the kiddos and left them outside (most of them were indeed taken). I then had a long dinner with my ancestors and spirit guides. My spell jars and crystals also got a nice long soak in that wonderful blue moon glow.

I hope everyone had and is having a serene and blessed Samhain/Day of the Dead.

Seriously. I don’t know what this Retrograde put in the kool-aid, but I’ve been more productive in the last two days then I’ve been in the last two months.

I have been VERY active on my Facebook (which is completely separate from my persona here), mostly because that has become a safe space for me as a black woman surrounded by black friends and allies. We’ve been doing a lot of fussing, crying, and processing for the past week or so. I have joined a new movement to hopefully contribute to a more organized and systematic approach to leveling our playing field so that we can create more spaces and have more opportunities to prevent racism from continuing. I’m not giving out the name of the movement for now, for safety reasons and because it is still in the very early stages. 

I have also been deeply connected to my black deities like Isis and Oshun, and my fiery ones like the newly introduced Baba Yaga. They have been instrumental in helping me find my voice in this time and use it wisely. 

Anyway, I’m going to let Trevor Noah take it from here, because he beautifully explains nearly all of my feelings regarding what has been going on this past week or so.

After I don’t know how long, I realized I was lucid dreaming. I promptly noped right out of that and woke myself up.

Unpopular Opinion

I guess I’m one of, like, 3 witches on the planet that doesn’t vibe with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. 

I think it’s because I feel that witchcraft is being given its “due” only because of the presence of the Christian story: there’s Lucifer, there’s a place called Hell that he rules over, and (SPOILER) they even made Sabrina his...daughter, I think? Even with Sabrina acting on the side of “good,” it is still continuing the idea of associating witchcraft with evil (or more precisely, the Christian concept of evil) . Apparently in the upcoming season, there’s going to be a group of pagans trying to (surprise!), unleash some great evil. 

Yep, that’s all pagans are good for, apparently...all things “evil.”

So yeah...hard pass for me. I like my witchcraft shows without the dependency on Christianity to tell a story. 

Call me when someone makes a Netflix show about some nature-loving POC witches who like to kick it with the Green Man and try to save the environment or something...wait...

...I just described Captain Planet, didn’t I?
