this was supposed to be a warm up just because I think I'm a snappy dresser lately (IGNORE THE FLAKES OF TEAL PLEATHER I AM LEAVING ON EVERY SURFACE) but it turned into this whole thing
I don't think I've done one of these before (or at least not for many years) so uh. Here it is!
fun facts
this is the only clothing item with dogs on it that i own (i don't really consider myself a dog person at all) and i am NOT exaggerating when I say these are clothes from elementary school at all (at least, the jacket and the sweater are)
knuckles is missing an arm due to circumstances out of my control but otherwise he's hangin in there!
the bag was a limited edition from the store opening and i was The Last person to get one (it had not even been ironed and set, so I did that myself at home! it was fun!)
idk what gender is but lately its been Solo Jazz (1992) and i've been deliberately dressing like its 199X for decades (which has the unintended side benefit of warding off romantic advances, at least from the unenlightened hoi polloi!)
only, 199x or not, i swear to god the side ponytail was an accident. I just wanted to make my hair visible on zoom calls during the pandemic and it got stuck that way.
29. do you have houseplants and how are you at keeping them alive?
I am not uhhh plant parent level and honestly none of the plants i have were chosen by me, they are all rescues or gifts or somewhere in between.
Lets do the tour...
Pic 1
- unsolicited spider plants from my aunt i'm trying to kill with neglect but theyre too powerful. I did just trim them when i got back and one of the three is pretty rough looking.
- the ghosties are all clones i cultivated during the pandemic from a plant my sister got in a school sale and named Gertrude, so these are all The Trudes
Pic 2
- more Trudes. I swear i gave away like ten of those little white cups of them but i just cant get rid of them fast enough.
- jade plant my brother left here that i repotted
- some science experiments (dropped succulent leaves i pick up off the floor at home depot or canadian tire im seeing if i can propagate)
Pic 3
- housewarming haworthia that @randomoranges sent me when i moved back to edmonton, so this is Petite Windex 2 (pw2) inspired by the time we inherited such a plant from previous renters in Toronto and named it Petite Windex so that Windex would rush out from montreal to come rescue this poor abandoned haworthia.
- clone of brother's jade plant that i had growing nicely to gift to @quatschmachen but then a squirrel uprooted it last summer :( hopital
Pic 4
- spider plant my grandma got me to take because she couldnt control the climate in her apartment. I try not to get sentimental about it because i think it was just an unwanted gift she didnt want to take care of, but it was the only plant she gave me that survived her so im trying to take care of it anyway (the berries are decorative plastic)
All my plants are currently suffering from a lack of sunlight and water because i was away for a month and because my house gets no direct light in the winter, but they will all perk up as soon as its warm enough to put them on the deck.
without naming them, post a gif from ten of your favorite films and then tag [NUMBER] people to do the same.
i have this issue where i've been watching more tv than movies lately so it takes me a while to think.. and also some movies (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) don't have gifs on this webbed site :[
i'll tag @randomoranges @quatschmachen @thisnameisquitequeer and @nakamopapina (as well as anyone else who would like to do it) no pressure~
Last Movie: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Last Show: Great Canadian Baking Show (finale waaah)
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Savory
Last Google Search: what's the actual title of the above movie lol
Current Obsession: playing asscreed odyssey and working on @athensandspartaadventures, i say, thinly masking my internal crisis of "should i get a phd"
Looking Forward To: travelling to the west coast best coast (so i don't have to worry about the Travel Anxiety)
not technically tagged by @randomoranges but not not tagged. if you see this, go for it :)
Good to see when one is aware of one's branding ;)
nutmeg ⇢ how’s your room/home decorated? do you have a specific theme or style going on?
my bedroom is kind of a mess and will be for the foreseeable future because it's just kind of being used as storage at the moment rather than decorated. I spent the whole holiday monday moving those damn blackout curtains and my mum is still like "wouldn't drapes be better?" like ma i am working with what i already have and can afford and they do not make drapes short enough for those windows and i am no longer in possession of the sewing machine because you all took it back out of province with you aaaaaaaaaaa
but apart from the ugly but lifesaving curtains and half the bookshelves in the house being crammed into my room I try to have a few personal touches (fairy lights, a nice framed star wars poster). Most of the conscious thought goes into my office.
I'd say it's an eclectic mix of sci fi posters and local art (both mine and others) and a bunch of knicknacks both recent and from childhood. It's not so much themed as just a reflection of my life (and i also keep getting edmonton swag).
i SUPPOSE i can show pictures but be warned its mostly just me like "gotta get stuff off the floor" and not much in the way of serious thoughtful design (which requires some money and some talent). There is some feng shui though to try to balance out the "idk what i am doing" chaos.
Office
ft. ted harrison, art by a person who didnt appreciate it so i keep it out of her reach so she cant destroy it, edmonton skyline print
beluga i have had since birth, star trek / wars figurines and some other guys as well as the tops of two out of many degrees
i have been digging all my pins out of storage to put on here plus necklaces and there's all the giant roadside attractions in alberta prints made by nancy nickolson who's art i love
i had books on this shelf for my zoom background to make me look like an intellectual and then the shelves fell on my head once so i decided to move them elsewhere hahahaha so now i just look like a weirdo obsessed with edmonton transit and star trek which is true.
(ignore the stupid hat it was a gift for my dad that he absolutely doesnt want but i dont know what to do with it)
postcards from places i've lived that aren't edmonton featuring art by @en-theos hehehe
some posters including a print from fort edmonton, local art propaganda, and a very kind yelp review printed out and given to me by a frequent houseguest :)
everyone is just jealous of my edmonton swag (and my piles of roasted peanuts for the magpies)
Living Room
moved my nice zoom shelf books (contributed by @randomoranges over here (and you must understand i liked voltron Before the reboot)
there's some dinosaurs my sister painted for me, several matryoshka dolls, some montreal art, kitty cats, and very tiny elgin marbles.
this is like the gay trek/who shelf i guess?? (ignore the calgary flag that's not real)
the star wars shelf (c3po is filled with orange pekoe so that's c3pekoe) and the eclectic plant collection (some of which belongs to @quatschmachen). They're hanging out here because i blacked out my office windows during the heatwave.
i keep getting these model valley line lrts and they have to live SOMEWHERE okay
tbh now that i have many of these i am thinking of rearranging them in rainbow order but i love them sooo much.
I do have piles of art that needs to be framed languishing in drawers and stuff but that's for Later. enjoy :)
Hi, I'm Hapo (she/they), Thanks for stopping by. Most of my art at the moment is geographical personification OCs or urban sketching with a dash of fan art here and there. I have an academic background in Classics so that comes up a bit too. You might also be here because I draw Star Wars and Star Trek on occasion!
If you like what you see, check out my about for more on commissions, merch, etc. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to know more about my process or have a suggestion for something I could try!
I kindly ask that if you want to just chat about blorbos and headcanons that you visit my main blog below, otherwise I tend to interpret asks as requests (stress!)

Accounts asking me to “dm for commissions” or similar will not only be blocked and reported with extreme prejudice but may be publicly harangued if it’s funny! ( and further, to strangers who simply dm me with ‘hey’ or something: I will not respond. Whatever you’re selling, I’m not interested! )
cactus ⇢ something you’re currently learning (about)?
getting a bit of a classic literature education with dracula and now moby dick, so there's that xD
on a less academic note i'm learning a little about things i do that my parents either do or not do and that is both frustrating and enlightening, I'm not sure how else to explain.
mahonia ⇢ what place, thing, activity inspires you most and how do you express yourself when it does?
i used to get this feeling going to museums and to some degree i still do but i picked up the bad habit from museum studies of. looking at font choices. so i took a whole degree about "people have bad habits of reading the label and not looking at the object - we need to fix that!" and Still look at the labels in spite of it all ToT but if i have the option i do like sitting in museums and sketching (until the second people notice me doing it hgghhfghgh)
but overall i have been getting into sketching outside, more urban sketching than landscapes although i think i get the most powerful inspirational feelings from looking at the sky more than anything else, i just can't capture it ToT
white carnation— would you ever want to get a piercing? if so, where?
I did when I was like 11, it was kind of that big rite of passage when you turned 13 to get your ears pierced, but I chickened out and I think I'm glad for that. I don't really have any interest in getting or maintaining piercings, it seems uncomfortable and like lots of work lol.
cosmos— what's the best compliment you've ever received? who was it from?
that's a difficult one especially because like most people i'm somewhat conditioned to focus more on the negative.
one that comes to mind is that i presented at a grad student conference a few years ago, i was not only super nervous thinking i was behind on my research compared to everyone else or the usual imposter syndrome, I was exceptionally moody because not a single one of my friends or family could attend. There was a guest speaker there which added on some additional pressure because oh no someone from Outside the Department who is probably Faculty aaa
but after everyone was finished presenting he spoke to me and said he enjoyed my presentation the most and that it was really interesting - there was nothing particular i remember about the way he said it but the fact that he took the time to tell me out of everyone was like ;~; thanks senpai.
