backstory changes for wave 2s:

antoinette's parents do not die, therefore, she doesn't inherit the title of baroness and instead puts more energy into learning swordplay. anais beaumont is, in fact, still alive.

takara is still a foster child, but is adopted by a family who care about her and encourage her to pursue an already present interest in learning about blood. she is still rather nervous, but more formal and professional.

minoru doesn't grow up as sheltered and rather than taking up silversmithing turns to interior design. the fight with his sister does occur, but the two are on better terms due to minoru and chikako each having a wider worldview.

riku doesn't spend time at the funeral home so much and instead becomes more interested in horror movies and novels, and pursues that interest instead. also, he and katsu are not related and do not meet until they both arrive at hope's peak.

makoto's father is alive, and he encourages her to be more confident and pursue her interest in musical theatre! she still has a slight stutter, but she is a lot less nervous and more self-confident, and has never ONCE stuttered while in character or singing.

izumi does not leave her parents to live with her sister, and attempts to make her parents happy as much as she can, rather than heslf. she goes into animation insead of makeup because of this, and is a lot less confident in herself. wave 2 izumi makes me sad ok

ryou's parents do not die. because of this, he does not have to focus so much on making sure he keeps himself alive and can focus on his interests more instead, including history! also, he's less mean, and more just. quiet.

setsuko is dead. she dies in place of her sister, hotaru. hotaru then goes on to become the shsl journalist.

in the wave 3 timeline kiyoko doesn't die. she and shsl conman ryou are partners in crime and it's great

Riku

pros:

he's really affectionate and he honestly thinks she's super great and likes her a lot!!

he is so positive. all the time. like. he ALWAYS looks at the good parts of a situation and i think that's a good thing with these two

he's really kinda silly and is willing to just chat

cons:

he's a little too energetic at times and if you get him going on something he CANNOT shut up

if he's comfortable around someone he will make morbid jokes/jokes about death and funerals and stuff and idk how well-received those'll be

he kinda needs a lot of attention?? and like. he talks a LOT

Minoru

pros:

he doesn't need a lot of attention or to talk too much. he's content to just kind of be around someone

he won't question about something more than once if she doesn't want to talk about it?? and he's really accepting about things

he is genuinely interested in anything she wants to talk about honestly

cons:

he's really, really quiet. to the point of being creepy, at times.

he's super naive. like. SUPER naive.

he can be kinda distant?? like again he's very quiet and at times he just kinda. gets even quieter and distant and idk.

-KICKS THOUGH WALL- how 'bout Minoru

it's like minus 20 here i need those walls to not freeze. but yes okay take the tall scarfy nerd!

minoru is actually one of my favourite characters ngl. basically, he grew up in a very, very rich family as the oldest of three children. he was very sheltered all his life - he can count on both times the amount of times he left the grounds of his family home, and until he came to hope's peak never left the house alone.

when he was really little, probably about six, there was an accident in his home. i'll admit i haven't entirely figured out the details of exactly what happened yet, but minoru was caught in the middle of it and left with the lover part of his face very much sliced up. it took a long time to heal, and he was unable to speak without hurting himself during that time period - so, he and the rest of his family learned sign language so that he could still communicate. after his face healed, he sometimes took to wearing his scarf over his face - however, he didnt wear it as often at home. he always wore it on the rare occasion that he went out, though.

he actually just got into silversmithng as a hobby - apart from reading, he needed some kind of hobby in the big (mostly) empty house he lived in, and it turned out he had a real knack for it. he mostly made small objects as gifts or trinkets for family members, but seeing the talent in them, his parents showed some at shows, although he was never present for them.

at age fourteen, when his youngest sister chikako was ten, the two got into a massive argument. neither can properly remember what it was about, but the two of them never made up - chikako refused to apologize or see his side of the argument, and minoru also refused to apologize, because he genuinely didn't understand that he had to in the situation. as such, the two aren't on speaking terms, and avoid mentioning each other. chikako is a bit of a touchy subject for him.

however, his other sister, masuyo, and him get along just fine! masuyo, still being on good terms with both her siblings, is kind of stuck in the middle of the conflict. it's a bit awkward for her, but she's doing her best.

i feel like it's important to mention that minoru literally spends most of his time standing at the side of the room not saying anything just. this 6'2" kid who doesnt show his face standing at the side of the room totally silently
