I'm watching the new Sailor Moon and god, I love some of the design choices and hate some of them there's just no in between. The CGI is terrible, the facial features are shoujo-cliches and so disproportionate / not-uniform, and the characters themselves are ultra stiff and cheaply animated - like they're always facing forward or exact side-profiles, and just don't have their motions flow or bounce around like they did in the original. It's pretty much everything you're warned not to do with animation.
BUT THE TEXTURES AND GLOWY MOON BACKGROUNDS AND CITY BACKGROUNDS, OH MY GOD, ALL THE GORGEOUS TRANSITION STILLS AND THE BEAUTIFUL STAINED-WINDOW STYLE FLOWERS AFTER THE TRANSFORMATIONS ESPECIALLY SAILOR MOON'S ROSES AHHHHHHHHHH.
So I'm torn. But obvi still watching it. I also still have crushes on both Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Venus so hey those hasn't gone away from when I was like SIX. Unbelievable. (God they're so hot why it's a kid's show noooooo.)
