Endrul’s initial response was “Damn right.” Then he realised this was a dating thing and not a platonic thing. Honestly, he hasn’t dated much. He thinks of his studies a lot, and also doesn’t really trust people, and he likes to keep busy, so he’s not going to be in social spaces as much on occasions, though he tries to take some time out of his weeks to do more than study or study somewhere else than anywhere he’s currently been for a project. 

With his friends, he is very fine with public affection. seeing as one should be his friend to date him, I guess he would be, but it also depends on the kind of friend someone is. He’s tactile, that’s for sure. Though near his shifting phase, he may be more irritable and less open to being touched. He may tense up then.

When it comes to kissing as such, I wouldn’t rightly know. He doesn’t think about dating much. He thinks he’d be fine with cheek kisses and hugging, but the lips might be a bit much. Maybe a little improper... Not that he is the most proper dunmer out there.

As for Samson, yeah he’s okay with it, but he doesn’t take people being into him seriously either, so good luck. 

Might catch him by surprise though if someone initiates it and seems genuine. He may not be as openly affectionate in the more crude ways. Grabbing his face and being disgustingly cute is allowed, even in front of the troops. He’s not trying to look tough for them, they know he is a person and not a suit of armor. Though, he must say, anyone who wants to be with him, must have really bad taste. He’s joking, of course. Well... Yeah, he’s joking.

--// Quick note: No, Samson, in any verse, will not like the idea of dating one of his doctors. Also, he doesn't want to feed someone's hero complex. Let him be desirable for more than being a tragic mess you can "fix." Romanticizing his suffering and the road of his recovery will only net you his disapproval. It's not something for anyone but him to feel personal pride for, and there's nothing poetic about what happened to him. It's just more proof of the Chantry's failing. He's not some sad thing to be coddled for you to feel good about yourself over. He rather someone see him as more than his addiction and his failings, thanks... ))

Samson will get told to take a bath then steal Josephine's scented oils, and she won't even be able to complain too hard because he picked a good combination, even though he's joking that he smells like peach cobbler in an Antivan royal garden, delicious enough to eat. ))

Samson: I'm no good with kids.

Me:

Imagines Samson talking to an elven kid who got flipping mad at a bunch of other kids. 

Samson checks on the kid and find him just pulling and twisting at some lumps of grass. Samson asks why he's upset. The kid says they called his mom a beggar. Samson asks what his mom does. The kid says she lives on the street. Samson says it ain't her fault now is it. From the sound of it, if he gets so upset on her behalf, she's a good woman. The kid confirms it. Samson asks for the kid's name. He's given it. Samson says he used to be a beggar, too. Everyone called him all sorts of things. At first, he also got angry, but he learned to accept it, and he learned the best way to respond was simply to smile. Drives people mad when things don't hurt you. Confirms that they ain't worth your time and it lets you focus on yourself. Ain't worth ruining your good day. All the while, he's also started picking at some grass with one hand.

Samson asks if they always lived on the street. The kid shakes his head. The kid says his mom was a kitchen staff at an estate, she baked and they lived there, but the estate owner moved. They didn't take you along? The kid shakes his head, sadly. Samson also shakes his head. Samson repeats back as a question that she was a baker. The kid nods. Samson says he's sure she made all sorts of beautiful things. He says he'd love to be given the honor of meeting her, he would. (It's just to get the boy back to his mom tbh)

The kid is hesitant, because he's a stranger and a human, and his mom doesn't want him to be alone with strange men. Samson says his mom's right, it pays to be cautious. She's got good brains on her. The kid considers again, looking at his Inquisition armor.

He takes him to his mom, and Samson stops at a respectable distance from the woman, whereupon he gives a bow. He says it's an honor to meet her and that's a fine lad she's got there. She taught him well.

He tells the boy that he shared his methods of dealing bullies that use nothin but words, but he thinks it might also help if they learned the boy is a knight of the Inquisition. He says this as he places his Inquisition pendant on the ground, accompanied with enough money to get the two of them something to eat.

Later, he tells Leliana about it. Says he wish he could do more and it's fucked up a baker could just end up on the street because their employer moved. Surely, there's work in that town for them. He'd hate to think this boy would grow up in poverty. Hardly realistic to think it would be safe at Skyhold for them either.

Fast forward. The woman is somehow given a new job, practically out of nowhere. The people who gave her the job said they know Samson. She didn't know his name before. She sent a letter, which Sera made sure Samson got.

Later, out with the Inquisitor, one gets this dialog:

Blackwall: Any reason you're so cheery today?

Sera: I made Samson cry yesterday.

Blackwall: That... don't sound too good.

Sera: They were _happy_ tears!

--// Samson enjoys the smell of anise. The plant was used when he had an upset stomach or trouble sleeping as a child. It would be boiled up in a sweet drink or be eated with some honey. It always did help. The Chantry sisters were very nice. His mother used it to freshen her breath in the morning. She also used it when he was a baby, but he doesn't remember that far back.

His dad always made sure they had some on hand. He could get it as soon as it would get into Kirkwall, working at the docks. A few times, Raleigh had been there to help him with his work. He got seeds so they could try growing the plant at home. It didn't survive long his father's death. His father was a good man. ))

So What Happened?

Okay, so let's not forget that Samson had been living as a cat! Cursed by Engel when he was just a foolish lad chasing after the wrong Warlock's daughter. He made do, growing up and fending for himself. Salvation came in the form of Ian Morrison, who rescued him and took him (as a cat named 'Salem'). In Havensdale, the power surging around town would eventually bring Samson back into human form!

Samson was just learning how to do stuff again with ease, getting back into two-legged life and being a witch (his powers had gone kaput when he was feline fine). Ian helped out as well, of course, and childhood bestie Olivia Winters was there, but not much help (warlocks, such drags!). Things were getting better, step by step, even if he was sad that he couldn't fit in the laundry basket anymore.

And then Founder's Day comes around and who is standing on the podium with the other Bad GuysTM? The guy who cursed him! Salem ran for his life and stayed indoors for the next hundred years (to exaggerate, of course). With time and patience, Samson learned how to transform- by choice- into his cat from and back, which allowed him to sneak outside again.

Again, over time, and with Engel's giant boost of power he put into Domesdale-- Salem developed an affinity for connecting (vibing, if you will) with animals. Just to let everyone know: the animals in Havensdale are hilarious! They have so much to say, you don't even know.

They were surviving... until June 2016. Samson couldn't have seen it coming, who could? One minute Meghan Morrison was there and the next, Ian Morrison was dead. Everyone was frozen. Samson couldn't... And Olivia? Her humanity snapped back on faster than the blink of an eye and it took her out! Their only hope was Dexter Harrison, who brought Ian back to life at a cost. He became a warlock (okay, but he also looked really cool! So cool and hot! And evil. Oft!).

In the aftermath, Samson takes care of Olivia who falls into a catatonic state, trapped by her humanity. He and Ian look after her as best they can. Samson is in it with her and Ian 'til the end. Ride or die. He's got their backs, always.

For Ian, Samson puts his tail on the line and spies on the Bad GuysTM to gather intel for the Resistance. It's scary as hell, but he does it. And okay, it's not like he doesn't agree with the Resistance, but it would be kinda cool and groovy to live life without hunters ‘n stuff out to get you or use you. Just saying.

--// Why did I base Samson's armor of a mongoose rather than the popular wolf motif? Because wolf would take away from Solas' motif, it doesn't quite suit Samson, and the mongoose has fitting symbolism. Bear was a consideration, but he knows what he is, and he is not some big and burly protector. He got by with clever wits and survivor's instincts, not strength. A mongoose destroys snakes with utmost tenacity. A mongoose is courageous, impulsive, and rebellious. It doesn't like being told what to do. That's Samson. ))
