Being taught how to fly, with wrapping paper littering the floor of the manor, a new broom held tightly between two tiny hands while Draco steadied him, and a soaring feeling of exhilaration and joy.
Falling off his broom and breaking his leg while flying with Draco; his first time visiting St. Mungo's.
Draco and Astoria telling him about the war, their part in it, and how he may have to deal with the judgments and misconceptions of others.
Going to Hogwarts, being sorted into Slytherin, dealing with the culture shock of being around so many different people in a new place, and becoming increasingly more withdrawn as he avoided most people and focused on his schoolwork.
Realizing that getting angry with (and occasionally verbally or magically attacking) those who insult his family is probably not the best plan, and likely the exact reaction that will spawn repeat insults in the future. (He was volatile and overly-sensitive in his younger days, attributes that were kept at bay only by his determination to be proper and aristocratic at all times.)
Flying to Albus's house in Godric's Hollow and sneaking in his upstairs bedroom window (simply to avoid having to speak to his parents); most notably the time he went off on a furious, emotional tirade about the unfairness of being judged on his surname, and then dissolved into sobs on Albus's bedroom floor (the only time he's really ever broken down like that).
(This really only applies to Saira's Albus, but it was a really pivotal moment in his development, so.) The moment in St. Mungo's when he realized that he would give his life for Albus, and he was filled with this righteous fury, because he'd always been so petrified of being judged by Albus's family, of being judged by everyone, really, and he'd been placing this ridiculous amount of pressure on himself that he didn't deserve. Everything sort of clicked into place for him, and he was struck with a sudden sense of strength and self-worth that did more to help him hold his chin up and cast off a lot of his anxiety than anything else had before.
Being named a prefect was something he took very seriously, and he dedicated as much, if not more, time and effort to those responsibilities as he did his studies. He took it as a personal responsibility to stop any bullying, name-calling, or prejudice that he saw, which earned him a rather humourless reputation. Nevertheless, he tried to be fair and do good, distributing enchanted maps to the first years, petitioning professors to create single-stall gender-neutral bathrooms and private dorms for students who wanted them, and handing out enchanted coins for students to press to call a prefect if they were feeling unsafe. Joining the Ravenclaw Science Club and taking Muggle Studies let him delve into muggle technology and pop culture, and he helped the club set up several movie nights in empty classrooms and, eventually, in the Great Hall.
The only truly eventful thing that happened during his job at the Ministry after graduation was when a dragon got loose and the Ministry called for every last person who could fly a broom to keep it away from muggle towns. He was incredibly excited about it (he'd always harbored a secret desire to work with dragons, much like Al's Uncle Charlie), but the moment he even got close to the thing, it knocked him from his broom. Waking up in St. Mungo's heavily sedated, he came to the realization that not only was dragon taming a rather poor fit for him, he was doing no good at the Ministry that he couldn't very well be doing at home. Pushing papers was not what he wanted to live and die doing, and he felt suddenly terribly claustrophobic at the thought that he would be a boring, uppity stick-in-the-mud forever. So, as soon as he sobered up, he quit his job and applied to WADA.
