Most 1D fans are not grieving the loss of an abuser. They're grieving the loss of someone whose work they enjoyed when they were young. That's not an unusual thing to do. It's not their fault that someone that likes growing up turned out to be abusive, why do they need to "rethink things?"
Plus, most of the posts I've seen from both current and former 1D fans acknowledge that Liam was in the wrong. & those posts generally condemn all the nasty comments left on Maya's page.
Tldr... Holding an abuser accountable for being an abuser and grieving the loss of a life are not mutually exclusive.
