The JT Carter Era (vc: *Nsync, BSB, etc.):
We were entering middle school as the boyband/teen pop craze was taking over, and while our dearest friend Lyra wanted all the boys in the bands, Luke and I just wanted to be them. Turns out I wanted to be them just a little more than my pal 😉, but she had the pipes and the moves to front a boyband just the same.
The BLP Era (vc: Senses Fail, Story of the Year, Linkin Park, etc.):
Ah, the Blake Light Parade era. This project was started by yours truly, but really we’d have nothing to show without Luke because she wrote the bulk of our limited discography. When people say music is an outlet this is what they mean. We went strong for two years and MySpace was definitely where our core fanbase was. There were also a lot of songs that referenced New Jersey in this one, but that’s because our pal Luke was made to move there for several months. I’ll just assume she wasn’t a fan of the circumstances surrounding why she was there, and not actually the state itself...
I would love to say that this was somehow tied in to the ScareCast, but Spooky Luke has been a moniker for her since like first grade. That’s a story for another time, but never did she live up to it more than during this brief stint where she gave rapping a go during her senior year. The stage makeup wasn’t even the half of it. I think there’s a few singles floating about on the interwebz for those wanting a glimpse.
The CV/CP Era (vc: PVRIS, Paramore, Mariana’s Trench, etc.):
And just like that, we’ve caught up to the present! I know the vast majority already know the origin story to CTRL+V/CTRL+C, whether you’re a BennieHolmie or a Copypasta, so I won’t bore you. But after so many years of radio silence, it’s great to hear my friend back where they shine the best and surrounded by kids she taught herself! They just wrapped up a small tour in November -capping it off with a stop in Philly, home of ya boy. They also dropped their first official EP, The Lockdown Sessions at the top of December, and the video for their latest single, Never Again, is lighting YouTube on fire.
