Quick-ish Guide to Using the New Post Editor and Cutting Replies
Hi folks! Tumblr has finally made it to where any new blogs created from this point forward will be defaulted to the NFP(new) post editor, and the option for the legacy editor is no longer available. Honestly, major bummer and a not-so-small inconvenience for many of us in the RPC. That being said, I have found a workaround that has far worked for me personally, and I'd like to share it with you guys in the hopes that helps anyone having to use a new blog to enjoy some tumblr roleplaying!
The very first step you'll want to take pretty much as soon as you create the blog, will be to reach out to staff in regards to permission for using javascript on your new blog.
This tends to take a bit for them to process, but it's essential when it comes to customizing your theme, muse, connections, and plots pages. That being said, you can still roleplay just as well without these aspects either while you wait or just as a default. Everyone chooses to run their blog's aesthetic in whatever way works for them! Now, onto the matter of cutting replies!
Step one: Get the X-Kit Rewritten extension installed on your browser!
New X-Kit will not work with the new editor in any way that will allow for editable reblogs the way that we're used to. And honestly, even X-Kit Rewritten won't allow for this either (at least as of now) but it will help in allowing the cutting of posts so that the dash remains legible for all. This extension will show up on the browser where any other extensions do, as opposed to dashboard header. You'll be able to customize all the options you'd like, but for the purposes of this guide, you'll want to ensure you enable the 'Trim Reblogs' feature (for context, I'm using Firefox as the browser here)
Step two: Cutting replies!
So once the proper X-Kit has been installed, it's on to replies. The cutting of replies is in itself a multi-step process, but much like with previous workarounds that have had to be employed, once you've done it a few times, it gets easier to go through.
First, you'll want to locate the post you want to reply to. I find it easier to work with posts if they're in my drafts, but this is totally a personal preference. You do you! The important bit is to ensure that the trim button is showing at the bottom of the post, near the reblog/edit button
If this button is not showing up on the post in question, it is not able to be trimmed. This can happen if the post is too new, and the reply will show the 'og' post at the top, but this usually stops after at least one reblog has been made
DO NOT CLICK THIS AT THIS TIME! The temptation will be there, and it's honestly just intuitive to believe that this is the next logical step, but it -in usual tumblr fashion- is not lol
Second, you'll want to go ahead and open the post for editing. Yes, both previous replies will still be there, but at this time you can go ahead and add your reply as you normally would beneath them
As an additional note on adding image media, I've personally found that the best way to avoid having your gif/image/icon come up as a linked item in the final post, is to save the image to your computer and upload it into the post using the 'add image' feature in the editor
Third, once you're happy with your reply, you'll want to save the draft. Some folks save back to their drafts, I prefer to lick 'add to queue' just as a habit to keep tumblr from posting something before I'm ready for it to be posted lol Regardless, you'll want to find the newly saved draft which will contain (at minimum) three replies and should still be showing the 'trim' button
Now is the time to click this button. It should lead to the following screen:
You'll want to select the trail items or previous posts that you want to trim, and the click on trim. NOTE: this will usually trim both of the previous replies, making the only visible reply your newest addition, but it will keep it on the same thread for the other writer to find
If the 'root' or starter for the thread was written with the legacy editor -which so far, majority will be- you'll first receive this message prior to the option to trim:
You'll want to just click on continue and proceed with the steps above but, you'll also want to follow the...
Fourth step! Once you've gone through the trimming process, go ahead and refresh the entire browser tab/window you're working in and scroll to locate the newly trimmed reply to verify that the trimming went according to planned.
NOTE: I've personally found that the trimming appears to have worked as intended immediately following the steps, but once I refresh the page or navigate away and back to my queue it shows my new reply doubled. Though this may only be something that occurs with newer threads where the ‘root’ post will be shown for the first couple of reblogs
At this point I've found you don't really have to repeat the trim action. You can simply click the 'edit' button and delete the 'bottom' reply. Once saved, the reply will then show as intended for posting
Fifth, is just acceptance. It's not what we're used to, but it'll do for now. AND, as small consolation, the new editor does let you edit your tags. Like you can legit click on a tag that you may have mistyped, and you can edit right there without having to delete the whole tag and retype it...#awinisawin

With so many people under one roof, it was a rarity that the trio found themselves with a free run of the house. As it stood the only reason they were left to their own devices now was because Keagan was at work, Luke had convinced Nix to let her tag along to the gym -with a solid promise to not actually do anything- and Teagan had been kind enough to convince Lyra they should have a day out and get him back up to speed on what was going in town.
Of course, the girls themselves would’ve normally also been out of the house with school, but with winter break extended after the last ‘storm’, they found themselves with the no real plans for the day. Tomi had done some training on her wolf skills with Sky earlier in the morning, and then spent a few hours working on her magic with Erin, and now that the house was empty the only thing they could think to do was watch a movie in the living room.
Of course, with no one around -specifically without Lyra around- it seemed that all three girls felt much more relaxed and at ease in how they happened to sharing the space. What had started off with them just sharing the sofa, as was intended, wound up with Skylar sitting in the middle with her right arm around Erin’s middle, as she rubbed small little circles with her thumb on the witch’s bare hip and, her right arm around Tomi’s shoulders as idle fingers mimicked her opposite thumb on the new wolf’s exposed collarbone. Meanwhile Tomi and Erin were both nuzzled up on either side of the redhead, one arm wrapping around the girl’s back and the other reaching across Sky’s own lap as their hands rested on each other’s side. All three pairs of legs were currently such a tangle that even MJ had opted to just go lay down on his own dog bed rather than try and find a comfortable place there. Honestly, their position was only comfortable because the smallest was in the middle, and the other two had longer limbs...
The one glass of wine they had all agreed to share probably helped a little too.
Truth be told, if Tomi were asked who started what first or what even prompted her to go with it, there is zero way her brain would be able to pinpoint an answer. All she knew was that one moment her eyes were on the screen -focused on a movie she couldn’t even name now- and the next, they were closed as she let herself be drawn in by the scent she had come identify as nothing but purely Skylar. She began to actively nuzzle her face into the woman’s neck, and encouraged by a warm hand on her own thigh beginning to slide up, she placed a kiss down. And then another. And another...
And as she felt the owner of the hand on her thigh pausing in the space just before reaching her ass, but giving a rather delectably firm squeeze nonetheless, Tomi subconsciously took this as permission from Erin, while simultaneously taking the sound of Skylar’s heart rate speeding up as permission from the redhead herself, to continue. Emboldened by both women, Tomi opened her eyes and locked gazes with Erin as she darted out a warm tongue and lapped at side of Skylar’s neck, from pulse point to just below her ear.
If the sudden way blue eyes almost instantly became onyx with how fast the witch’s pupils dilated at the sight wasn’t a silent agreement that they were basically on the same page right now, Erin taking the arm wrapped around Skylar’s back and smoothly moving up and under the shorter girl’s shirt as she unsnapped her bra and proceed to use her magic to run a tantalizingly hot trail all the way down the redhead’s spine? Yeah, that might do it.
No party currently involved wanted to dare break contact with the others, but all three knew that if they were going to be taking this any further, it was definitely not going to be in the open expanse of the family room. Which how they now found themselves back in the confines of their shared room, door closed, firmly locked, and a simple ward -or three- to afford them the privacy they had grown so used to.
Whether it was the familiarity of what had become their space or the knowledge they would not be just suddenly walked in on, Tomi couldn’t say. But no sooner was the door closed, than Skylar’s top and bra were both on the floor courtesy of her and Erin’s hands. The witch and the demon did take a pause after this to allow the wolf any and all time needed to stop things if it was getting to be too much. Granted the way her eyes were practically glowing -Tomi didn’t doubt they were mirroring her own- and how she proceeded to basically rip through Erin’s shirt as she delivered a searing kiss before turning to face Tomi and doing the same, as Erin closed in from behind Skylar to place warm kisses on the wolf’s exposed neck...No, Tomi was pretty sure that Skylar was just as onboard as she and Erin were.
For all the tip-toeing around they had all done in just admitting they all had feelings for each other, the actual demonstration of that love and desire was certainly coming to them far easier than the words ever did. As Skylar moved down from Tomi’s lips to her neck, Erin wasted no time in reaching out with her right hand to pull the taller woman in to replace the wolf’s lips with her own, as her left hand found purchase on Skylar’s chest. Tomi could really only speak for herself as she felt each and every one of her senses completely overtaken by and leaving no room in her brain for anything that wasn’t the other two women, but if their actions were anything to go by, she likely wasn’t alone in that sentiment.
Somehow managing to fumble their way out of the rest of their clothes and onto their bed, it was all Erin could do not to just let out a literal growl at the sight. It had been one thing to see Skylar in all her naked glory when they were alone, but to witness what the wolf was like as Tomi took hold of her right breast and latched on for dear life...it was a very different kind of ecstasy, but one that was providing her with a deliciously familiar throbbing sensation all the same. Without wasting too much time, she took hold of Skylar’s left breast and made sure that it was given equal attention, before reaching out her free hand to take hold of Tomi’s chest as well.
It wasn’t long before she felt a warm hand cupping her own breast, and between the three of them, as they used their lips, their tongues, their hands to trace and memorize new aspects of each other, they created their own little echo chamber of whines, mews, pants, and moans that just served to egg the others on.
As they knelt on the bed, Tomi and Erin facing each other with Skylar in the middle, their mouths went to work on backs, shoulders, necks, and lips as deft hands worked their way down slowly but surely, and without a single word verbally exchanged, until all three women felt the satisfaction of cupping a warmth that gave way to wonderfully moist heat. The way they moved, the synchronicity they had, and the manner in which everything lined up to where no woman was left out at any point would give the impression this was a dance they had performed many a time before.
It helped that Skylar obviously knew well what she was doing where Tomi was concerned, and that Erin knew the same with Sky. Having Skylar’s lips on hers gave Tomi a tether, spurring her confidence in how she worked her hand between Erin’s very welcoming lower ones. With every indulgence they had already taken with each other leading up to this moment, it didn’t take long for them to find a rhythm that had free hands reaching everywhere they could. Skylar arched and reached back behind her, Erin met her eager kiss and reached her own free hand over Sky to urge Tomi onto the redhead’s chest, before running her hand down the expanse of the woman’s back, before Skylar broke the kiss and latched onto Tomi’s shoulder with her teeth, Tomi easily moving her own head up to take Sky’s place with her own tongue meeting Erin’s warm, awaiting mouth just in time to swallow up a moan.
They instinctively moved as one as all three women brought themselves impossibly closer, leaving no space for even a breeze to make its way through between them, the pressure and ministrations of their fingers combining to push all three women over the edge at the same time in a glorious sound of moans and cries.
It would be a few minutes later, as they lay limbs all entwined in a heap on the bed, their breaths still coming in short, quick bursts, that someone mentioned the need for a shower. Needless to say, Tomi and Erin were pretty sure that Skylar was very happy the remodeling led to a large, standing shower, just big enough for three...

Agent Keagan Calvetti and her team are tasked with tracking down and bringing what seems to be a rogue Paladin that shouldn’t be free to exist outside of the defined restrictions of the Nexus, in to HSI custody.
However, it seems the Renegade -as the team as dubbed her- is also looking for the HSI’s teams help as they have a common enemy: the Ng family of corrupted hunters. Though off to a rocky start, both parties eventually learn to trust one another, but that trust put to the ultimate test when the Renegade appears to go rogue on the HSI team itself.
Kennedy smiled at how proud the other looked when talking about the different platforms that they deemed as safe spaces for others. “That sounds like a good idea.” She nodded in agreement. With what she heard, she could only imagine how much it’d hurt to simply think about anything. “To rest, I mean.. before starting on your projects - well, the projects too, are a good idea..”
Hunter let out a small laugh at the correction. “Oh, something tells me thinking will be the least of Keagan’s problems when it comes to getting Luke to rest, but for the time being I’ve given my word to help by not instigating any highly physical video ideas and placing the ghost hunting on hold for the podcast.”
Suddenly remembering something, she fished out two business cards from either pocket of her jacket. “This is the information for the bakery. Feel free to drop by any time, doesn’t even have to be to buy anything or even for the pet treats. We have a few regulars that genuinely just show up to hang out. And, this is the info for the ScareCast, and all of our other media platforms. My niche Erin designed the logos and the card layouts. Aren’t they dope?”
Dallas wouldn’t know what she’d be doing or where she’d be if it weren’t for Kala. It was surprising that Luke also helped too but the half-demon thought it was just something to do with Skylar coming down to beat the shit out of her. At the mention of her mother influencing her, Dallas just casted her eyes down as she shrugged since she didn’t know what to say to that.
Though that mood quickly sobered up when she could hear those heals coming down those stairs. Her head whipped around and saw the boss’ sister scanning the floor as she descended, only to smile when their eyes locked. “Oh no..” She mumbled, “I.. I think she wants to .. talk to me? She just wants to talk to me right?” She grabbed onto Oz before she saw Dylan motioned her to follow. “….Save me.” She whispered before begrudgingly making her way across the floor to meet the other.
At the question, Oz made a show of glancing around at their surroundings and said, “I mean, we’re certainly not in the Canopy two, so I can’t imagine there’s anything much more physical she’d want from you...”
Normally, if felt someone grab onto her without prior warning, things would turn bad quite quickly. Now, however, she was fully aware this was a friend and that said friend very much did not feel comfortable with the idea of speaking with the older woman alone. “It’s alright, babes. I’ll be following right behind you. If she tries anything I can provide a distraction.”
Aleja laughed at that description, “Hart and Ollie are going to be sad to hear that you prefer Keagan over them. But I guess you’re pretty thrilled that she’s now working in Fallcrest too, same as you.”
“The token human.” She smiled, “Everyone being overprotective over her would make a lot of sense - everyone being scared of Keagan also makes a lot of sense.” She snorted. Aleja only met her for a very brief moment during the party and from the way she handled the uninvited guest, the faerie also wouldn’t want to mess with her. “That family is just.. protective overall, aren’t they?” She also recalled how Lucas handled Skylar whenever she visited the gym. Definitely different from how Braxton and Tomi interacted.
Bringing a hand over to cup the woman’s cheek, she leaned in for a kiss, “I wasn’t complaining per se, so don’t leave me out here on the couch all by myself. I’m rather comfortable sitting here.”
“They’ll live,” she said flatly, but knew that both Hartley and Oliver and take less than a second to also choose Keagan over herself if given the chance. The trio was close, but Keagan had always been the epitome of badass. “At the risk of sounding like I might have an actual range of human emotions,” she began, “I’m actually just happy to know that she gets to stay with her kiddo now. There will never be anything quite as heartbreaking as watching a grown woman choke up after she has to watch another of her kid’s accomplishments on a tiny laptop screen from miles away.”
“Keagan’s mom was also an HSI agent, so she’s seen things out in the field that would make any mother protective. It kind of just trickled down from there. Though, I honestly can’t say that ‘protective’ is a word that comes to mind when I think of the Benson family so...I think Luke just stepped in to make up for Richard.” Blake’s eyes suddenly widened as a thought occurred to her. “Speaking of...well, sort of? Anyway, word is if we had a reason to be scared of Keagan before, we have one to be even more so now. A little Lyra-shaped bird mentioned she and Luke may be dating now.”
Blake gave her a dubious look as she said, “Not complaining? Well, I’ve never heard ‘you smell like beer’ used as a compliment or pickup line, but I might have to give it go.” She chuckled into the kiss before heading off and returning as soon as she was done. “Alright, where were we?”
“Then we better hope they stay friends. It’s not the same if we don’t have one of the scoobs with us.” Knowing his brother and Ayden, they should be fine. They had always been reasonable with most decisions. Surely this is just a little hill they needed to get over. Braxton chuckled with a bit of embarrassment. “You’re right. As always. I should.. take my tight and now just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind.”
“She’s got backup if she needs it - I had no idea Ianthe was going to be here. Did you see her glare? I told you she still doesn’t like me ever since Luke and Teg fell out that tree.” The beta wolf never gripped his steering wheel that tightly out of fear when he was in the car and saw Mrs. Calvetti came into view. To think Colston had to deal with them in person. Man, oh man. “…I heard the whole clan is here, so if anything, Lyra has the title of being chaotic.” He snorted, “Okay, so the Berzerkers kept us on our toes, but we still pulled through! However, I will say - I don’t want a repeat of either events.”
“I’d bet my right hand they will. They’re both far too selfless to ever make the gang have to choose between mom and dad,” she pointed out. It was mainly a joke -that would be twice as funny to other children of divorce- but, it was also technically true given that even regardless of age, Col and Ayden had often acted as the ‘parents’ of the gaggle of kids. The fact they were both the Council Elder for their species just cemented it now. “I’m unreasonable enough to expect it to go away overnight...or entirely, for that matter, but it would certainly help if every thought that popped into that, unique mind of yours didn’t also just flow right out of your mouth.”
Izzy couldn’t help but laugh at the memory. “I’m not going to lie, but I almost thought I was going to have to ask if Luke had a spare pair of trousers to lend you or if maybe JJ had left a pair behind, because the look on your face when you saw Mrs. C was still very much in town,” she stopped giving in to another laugh. Regaining her composure she sighed and said, “I not worried they won’t be able to handle the girls, that I’m sure will be a piece of cake. I’m more concerned of the girls either taking too much attention away from the convalescent or taking to much of the convalescent’s attention. As her boss, you know how Luke is around kids.” At the mention of not wanting a repeat, Izzy looked at him accusingly and said, “Braxton Walker Rendall, you knock on wood this instant.”
