The Team's Inner-Relationships
//Basically how they all act with each other, set after Sam's return/apology.
Okay, yes, yes. I don't think you all understand that I'm strongly character-oriented with my writing. Like I just keep adding more minute details to my characters all the time. Stuff that isn't even important really, like how they each individually sleep or feel about ice cream.
This list is in an order, but I'm not sure I'd say most favorite as much as most thought or development has gone into the top ones.
Danny and Sam: Ah, yes, the two had once been a cute lil' teenage couple. Seriously, these two were so adorable that I cried writing the first page of the story because it had one of their interactions of this stage of their relationship.
Then Sam got amnesia, and oh Danny finds her and after that it's downhill for a while. Sam brushing off Danny and Danny trying to hold onto the past relationship thinking that maybe she'll remember at one point and boom it'll snap back into place, but it doesn't. Sam treating Danny pretty bad because he knew her, but she can't remember how she's supposed to be and she just ends up treating him horribly because Samantha Durant is not adept with handling her feelings.
Oh, yes then their fight. UNF! It starts over an argument whether or not to encourage a kid to become a hunter or not, and turns into Danny actually yelling and Sam initiating a physical fight. Sam leaves. Sam returns realizing her mistakes, they both apologize, it's a really great scene. So much healing and fixing, then they pretty smoothly settle into best friend status.
May's Role In The Group: This may kind of count more towards her development as a character, but really talking about the five individual relationships would take a while. She starts out, not a big team player, really just in the group for insurance when she's pick-pocketing and robbing in general.
So, she starts out not big on the whole team concept. (The team concept is explored really deeply and ahhh I'm gonna make a post about that next I think). She likes the idea of having people behind her for if something hits the fan, but the idea of risking her life for them is out of the question. This is purely because it works out for her.
BUT AS TIME GOES ON OH SHE CHANGES! Nothing dramatic or big, but she just- she sees the others and like learns from them. IT's not like she wasn't aware of good people int he world, but she'll see Danny stay up an entire night just to make a kid feel better. Then after so many displays where she sees them all genuinely as who they are, she starts to absorb their good morals and becomes the moral compass of the group. She just becomes such a balanced person after bonding with the others and mmmmmmmhhhh. Yes.
Sam and Vincent: Aha, nobody probably saw this one going to be so high up, but yeah I think a lot about it. Vincent is quiet so he's hardly said a lot during any threads.
Here's the thing though, while Ann is pretty buddy with Sam, Vincent is really there for her and understanding. Like, he's there on a deep understanding because he recognizes what she goes through.
As you may know, Sam has triggered episodes where she recovers a memory (usually it's not too much, but it has been and will be), and Vincent has mild/medium schizophrenia (which is more important in 1868 since history reasons I'm not going into).
So, Vincent is the first to notice and recognize Sam's episodes. Which he passes off a single sentence to let her know he won't say anything at all, and is just there for her. What I like about this relationship is that it is meaningful without relying fully on talking or only being about their illnesses. Yeah, that's how they initially bond, but it's not the only thing about them. Although it is important, I mean somebody you can be open about stuff with without being accused of being possessed by a demon or say something unintentionally hurtful just because they don't understand.
But yeah, Vincent is pretty silent, and Sam usually adjusts her speaking amount to who she's with, her actions speak more than her words really though. So, this relationship is really just unique in its form and I don't know I just really appreciate how it's something that is healthy and great, but people wouldn't know it because -oh they never talk they're not really friends or anything like that.
They take a lot of comfort just being alone together, and nothing has to be said. Though they will sometimes talk when something is bothering them but at those times it's... not one-sided, but like one of them will talk and the other will just ilsten. They won't even hum in response, just watch the other as they talk so that the person knows that they're listening and everything. IF they have anything advise wise to offer they'll say it when the other is done. Also physical contact, they interact together very organically. Glances at the bench will act as offers or requests to sit down, after a while they just come really well together with knowing how the other is without any words.
AT THIS POINT I AM REALLY TIRED SO THESE ARE GOING TO BE REALLY SHORT AND NOWHERE AS IN-DEPTH AS THE FIRST THREE.
May and Vincent: Look, okay, these two form a healthy relationship despite baggage and everything. Vincent has issues, and so does May. I don't know, just this relationship starts from the ground up and I mean that. Everybody else gets a pretty basic level relationship within a week, but it takes a month for these two to develop past strangers. It's like weaving threads intricately and slowly to solidify their relationship as it grows instead of standing it up on wooden stilts.
Young/innocents form relationships pretty easy, like when you were a kid you were likely to make a friend really quickly, you talked and BAM friendship. This, is like the opposite of that. Baby steps to work up from mistrust on both of their sides and an inability on either to make themselves vulnerable by revealing something that could advance the relationship by trusting for the other to not spin it around on them.
Balder and Danny: Look okay, Balder gets a crush on Danny. But you know the crush dissolves away pretty fast because Danny is hetero-romantic. Still, Balder appreciates Danny and trusts him. Balder also acts as the info person on the team while Danny takes on a sort of leadership role.
Gosh, though like basically they maintain a good relationship despite some popular tropes and ideas. Like there's an idea that someone who is sexually or romantically attracted to someone can't just be friends with them, and I really don't like that. Like people can respect another's sexuality/romanticism and learn to control their feelings because their feelings are not the only ones that matter and if you actually care then you'll at least try. Like you can't change someones's sexuality/romanticism, and I don't know I just don't get to see this sort of relationship to healthily address this topic.
Ann and Balder: They're siblings, Balder is older, but Ann is stronger. Okay, the sibling thing should be a really good indicator of what I'm going through here. They also work very organically together, although unlike Sam and Vincent they are more talkative. Balder rambles actually. But uh, it's such a great sibling relationship.
SORRY I AM TOO TIRED TO EVEN FINISH THE SIBLING'S BASIC SUMMARY SO I'M GOING TO BED AND FINISHING THIS LATER
