i just want you to know that if there is an option for me to stick Abrin into our luggage and bring him with us I am taking it. Hes the only home my MC has known after loosing Reina aint no way hes leaving his brother behind
I mean… he DID pay R for a ride...
idk if this is too late since it's april 1 in my timezone, but this is a masterpost of my ocs for @smallartistocbracket 's tournament!
more info under the cut
I'll give you a fun fact if you give me one, any subject! Here's one from me: the reason DC Comics has so many gorilla-themed characters is because the Silver Age cover artists discovered that covers with gorillas sold better and they started cramming them in everywhere. Got to the point where editorial had to put a blanket limit on the number of cover apes
I love that fun fact. Thank you so much!! What on earth? Why did gorillas sell better? Do you think they still would today??
My fun fact:
Abrin is lectin that is toxic to humans and found in the Abrus genus of plant. The best known example is the Abrus precatorius, or the rosary pea plant. You can guess from the name that the toxic seeds are used as beads in jewelry and crafts. A person may be unaffected if they ingested a bead whole but would def be poisoned if it was cracked or chewed. If the jewelry gets cracked, a person could be affected from skin exposure or even just from breathing it in. When ground into a powder, abrin is water soluble.
If ingested, abrin can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. So the threat of dying of dehydration is already there, but if it goes untreated for a few days, it can end in full on organ failure.
But the reason this particular poison caught my eye as fun fact worthy is because all of its reactions are marked "significantly delayed," and there's no reliable test to see if someone has been exposed to abrin. That got inspiration going for me. Why would Character A know anything about the death of Character B? Character A was hardly the last person to see Character B. Prove they did anything.
Sources: The book I was looking through in the library, AMA Handbook of Poisonous and Injurious Plants. But this was published in 1985, so I was googling alongside it, and here is the CDC's page on abrin
And hey, for the record to anyone reading this, if you get some accessories that look like this, and one of them ever cracks or you have small children who will chew everything, I'd say get rid of it just to be safe.
I have to say Fathers and siblings who blame their child and siblings for their wife'/mother's death at child birth piss me off so much. Like first off father dearest you impregnated you wife blame yourself not the child that didnt asked to be born. Children I'm a little more lenient because they only know what was taught to them but at some age your have to recognize that the child had no fault. Like bullying a 14 year old while you're older you should know better by now.
I felt like I had been unfazed by the premise of an unloved child since it's a staple of of isekai but this was writen so beautifully you had me crying from Reina's death until the conversation with Abrin.
I chose to have my princess say Abrin was the one reason to wake up and the love Abrin has for their sibling warms my heart. It hurts my heart thinking my princess has hope for a better life once married but to have that life they have to leave Abrin behind. I feel it must cause her turmoil knowing they are each others sanctuaries and must find her dream a bit selfish. I look forward to your next update! ☺️
I’m so happy you like it! I really wanted MC’s relationship with Abrin to shine through this go around and I’m happy that it did. Very important character to me!
i don't know if i've ever been endeared to a sibling in an IF this quickly before. im tackle hugging abrin at my very next opportunity i dont care how nonchalant i will probably accidentally make my mc #watchout
Abrin is my baby. Also he might tackle you first...
Want to pop in to say how excited I am to have you back!!! I absolutely loved ur story and characters and the general aesthetic and can't wait to see what you've got in store for us!
