love it when me trying to tell my mom that a comment she made offended my dad and should maybe apologize goes the exact same way it always does:

me: maybe afford him the basic curtesy you would other people? maybe stop acting like he’s being irrational for expressing that what you did upset him??? maybe try to avoid unnecessary conflict instead putting me directly in the line of fire having to calm him down after you do something you know from past experience will put him in a foul mood the rest of the night?????
