Welcome back to reading comics. Last time I said the next one would be soon, but as you can tell by the fact a month has passed, that did not go as planned. But, now I’m back! So, full spoilers ahead for Absolute Green Lantern #16, Absolute Superman #20, Absolute Flash #16, Absolute Martian Manhunter #12, Absolute Batman #21 & 22, Absolute Green Arrow #2, Absolute Catwoman #2, and Absolute Wonder Woman #21!

Absolute Green Lantern #16 - This was a really strong issue. I like the moral Selena Jo is dealing with. I’m also really liking what’s being done with Hal. I was wondering where Jessica Cruz would pop up since everyone else is here and I’m interested in this take. Jo’s plan to empower the residents of Evergreen is a great idea and I like how that led to Jessica getting powers. I’m interested to see this Jessica’s backstory and her exact reasons for siding with Mogo.

Absolute Superman #20 - I enjoyed the Hawkman stuff here. I liked the start of the issue and how Hawkman trusts Superman, I even liked how he told Black Adam the truth of the prophecy. Other than that this issue was fine. The art was great, but it was just big action, and some of Hawkman’s internal monologue during the fight felt very 90s. Overall, a fun issue, with some really solid Hawkman characterization.

Absolute Flash #16 - This was a quick read, but still good. I still really like Wally’s dynamics with Linda and Grodd. I’m interested to see where we go with Grodd’s father. This was a solid start to this two-parter. I also like how Wally finally gets the Flash name.

Absolute Martian Manhunter #12 - A great finale to a great series. I loved every moment of this finale. If this was the last time we saw this version of Martian Manhunter I’d be fine with that. But, we know he’ll be back for the crossover event later this year. I hope that crossover event handles him well because this series is a masterpiece!

Absolute Batman #21 - This was a solid issue. Nothing too crazy, but I liked getting more of Babs, I liked more of Bruce’s friends, and I like what’s being done with the Robins. How they’re supposed to be good guys, but some members like Dick are already noticing the cracks in that. I think the first meeting between Bruce and Jack Grimm was solid, but things like the “I wanna do this dance forever” line feel like their just there to be references to the main universe dynamic, while the lines about Jack controlling when Batman ends were better. A good issue that does a good job continuing this arc.

Absolute Batman #22 - I liked the focus on Harley and her backstory and how Bruce is still lost in being Batman. Batman here is very aggressive, which is this take on the characters whole deal, but I don’t always love how that’s handled. But, stuff with Harley and the Robins is still strong. Though, I don’t really care for Jason here, his characterization feels like pretty generic modern Jason writing as the “angry, violent” one of the Robins. The ending was very interesting. I’m interested to see where the stuff with Thomas goes next issue. My theory is that Thomas may end up being Clayface, pretending to be Thomas so Scarecrow can lead Batman into a trap.

Absolute Green Arrow #2 - Another solid issue. The mystery behind everything is very good and very intriguing. The one thing I didn’t care for here was this take on Connor Hawke. He barely appears before being killed off we don’t really get to know anything about him. I hope Roy Harper is handled better next issue. I’m also really liking how political this is as a Green Arrow comics and I’m enjoying Mia here (though, I admittedly haven’t read any mainline Mia so I can’t speak to whether she’s handled well here, just that I’m enjoying her so far). I’m interested to see where this series goes!

Absolute Catwoman #2 - Another great issue. I’m really loving this series so far. The art, the designs of things, the writing. I’m really loving it all! I’m also really enjoying Cassandra Cain so far. She’s really fun. Like with Absolute Green Arrow, I’m very excited to see where this series goes!

Absolute Wonder Woman #21 - Lastly, we reach Absolute Wonder Woman. This was another great issue of this series. I like Diana struggling with violence here as she deals with everything happening with Barbara and Circe. I’m very interested to see where this plot goes next issue and beyond!
