Honestly what a waste of Will Byers
They did not deserve him
Literally, his love life aside-
They make this beautiful, emotional, strong, brave character a foil to their antagonist. They show that he is powered by love in the exact opposite to Henry being fueled with hate.
They knock him down but show he remains kind. They make him call others out when they're being dicks, and stay resilient throughout. They make him sarcastic but they also make him forgiving. They make him quiet in a group but loud when he's with the people he trusts and cares about the most. They let him show raw emotions and never forget who he is.
They make him hopeful, and then hopeless, but they don't explain how either happened.
They give him strong sibling relationships, but don't give them the time to develop them onscreen in the latest season. They show he and El understand each other best through glimpses, and never let them have a one on one conversation about their trauma.
They big him up as the main character. They give him this massive moment in the volume 1 finale that allows him to claim his powers, his magic, through queer childhood joy. They tell us he was chosen for a reason. They say he's linked strongly to the antagonist. We're led to believe he will be instrumental in his defeat, that he would succeed in defeating the Mind Flayer with love where Henry failed.
And then they sideline him.
They give him no strong role in the final battle. They force him to come out publicly when he is not ready but don't plan to ever have any response to it or for it to be necessary in the final. It's a checklist box for them. They make him forgive his best friend instantly for being garbage over the years without giving their conversation the emotional depth it requires.
They let his best friend say that his life started the day he went missing even though the scenes of the show have repeatedly told us he was traumatised and did everything in his power to get him back. And then they never address that. They sweep it under the rug. It's shitty writing to a T.
At least Will Byers is free now. Free from this shitty homophobic show that never ever deserved him.
Smallville really is the show of all time. Clark Kent’s first interaction with Lex Luthor was giving him mouth to mouth. I just watched Jimmy Olsen get driven to a pill addition by his wife gaslighting him to protect an alien serial killer that’s obsessed with her and that’s not even in the top twenty craziest things that have happened this season. Clark defeats every major Superman villain before becoming Superman. He knows kryptonians can fly but we never see him do it because he’s scared of heights. He develops x-ray vision and they immediately make a joke about looking in the girls locker room because it was 2002. He gets laser vision because he’s horny. Johnathan Kent gets superpowers for a hot sec. Jensen Ackles dates a high schooler bc his mom wants Clark’s cool crystals. Lana Lang gets possessed by a witch that also wants Clark’s cool crystals. They cannot have Clark become Superman until the last episode because that’s the entire premise but you can tell sometimes they really wish they could. Everything I’ve mentioned sounds like a major spoiler but at most they’re all b-plots that are never mentioned again that’s how crazy bonkers bananas outer space nutzo pants this show is. Dez from Austin and Ally is there.
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER // 7.11 "Showtime"
i really did just watch the Regency England version of a fuck boy ask Mary Bennet to be his low-commitment, casual, unmarried, situationship huh
the way holmes refers to watson as his "intimate friend" in the speckled band is even more insane considering they'd only known each other for two years
Bram would mention an obscure old gothic building from the 14th century and Poe, having fixated on it once at 17, talks about in depth like he was there
Poe keeping up w an immortal in conversation is like a challenge to him, meanwhile Bram thought he found kinship TT
