Ur fav is problematic: Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber is one of the most problematic celebrities whom hasn’t really change his ways as he wants you to think. From defending abusers to cultural appropriation, here are the reasons why Justin Bieber is problematic.
1. Racism and Cultural Appropriation
Awhiled ago, a video surfaced around the Internet in which had Justin Bieber saying racist slurs around his friends. He later on to apologise but it wasn’t really enough, although the video maybe old, his words still hurt POC. Many fans defended him by saying how can he be racist when he has black friends. It doesn’t matter if he has black friends, what he said years ago doesn’t change anything. Although he tells us he isn’t racist, he has tendency to do cultural appropriation. He posted a photo of him having cornrows, he said that Hailey was the one who made them to making him out like a “douche”. It’s true, he does look like a douche an ignorant one at that. He also worn dreadlocks as well.
He has also defended his friends for doing cultural appropriation as well, for example he defended Kylie Jenner when she posted a picture of herself with cornrows on her birthday. The jenners and the kardashians are known to do cultural appropriation so it wouldn’t surprise that Bieber is friends with them. Bieber is the type of person who says “it’s just a hairstyle why do it matter” without even looking to understand why this isn’t just a hairstyle. Black People are getting discriminated and fire when wearing their own hairstyle like dreadlocks or corn rows. They are also called “Ghetto” “Unprofessional”. But when a non-black person wears the hairstyle it’s a trend. Here are two articles that is published by the same gossip websites which talks about the same thing but just different reactions. He also has cultural appropriative tattoos like Native American, Hebrew and Japanese Kanji tattoo. People like Bieber get these types of tattoos because they love the “aesthetic”.
2. Defending abusers
Bieber loves to defend people like Chris Brown and thinks that we should be ok with it. When he posted the photo basically comparing Chris Brown to Tupac and Michael Jackson, I was in no surprise that he would do something like that. Like I said before, Bieber and Chris Brown have been besties since ‘09 which was in the same year pleaded guilty for attacking Rihanna. Chris Brown hurting women isn’t mistakes he chose to lay his hands on them. Like fans, Bieber probably thinks that women only want clout and attention because they report the assault to the police. This is probably the same people who say “Why don’t you report to the police?”. It’s also no surprise that Bieber defend Chris Brown whom has abused and hurt women and also allegedly has rape them or put them in a toxic environment. In 2011, Rolling Stones Interviewed Justin Bieber and he was asked what he thought of abortion in the case of rape. He responded “Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason.”
Justin Bieber may have good music, but you can’t just blinded by the things that he has chosen to do that’ll get him into trouble. I also found out that the church, Justin attends to is against the LGBTQ.
Being Abused Doesn’t Make It Okay to Abuse Others
This meme is exactly what I thought when I read this local news article about a former classmate (and one of the worse bullies I had, by the way) that is now in jail for attempted murder after he set his ex on fire. The DA was such a massive abuser apologist!
“ He described Mr. Osborne’s “less than ideal childhood” that include physical and sexual abuse, as well as a dependency on alcohol that lead to substance abuse and factors to be considered in the sentencing.”
So. Fucking. What. I know lots of survivors of physical and sexual abuse- myself included, given what a woman did to me when I was 7- that have never, ever, EVER considered doing such a thing to an ex. One of my ex lived by Trump’s “grab them by the pussy” remark and did that to at least 9 girls- that was my reason for dumping him, in fact. And, I didn’t realize it at the time because I was in too bad a headspace to defend myself, but I think what he did to me might qualify as abuse- I told him I was extremely uncomfortable with PDA and he’d STILL grab my ass or boobs in public Is that abuse? It’s definitely crossing boundaries. ANYWAY. Wouldn’t even consider lighting him on fire.
