Once per turn: You can Set 1 "Abyss Script" Spell Card directly from your Deck, but it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Destiny Soldiers (DESO-EN018)
Abyss Actors are in a quite interesting position compared to current builds and archetypes. While nowadays many Decks tries to swarm the field with several monsters to prepare summons from the Extra Deck, in most scenarios Abyss Actors can just rely on each other to overwhelm the opponent together. Combining Pendulum Summon with the Abyss Script cards, Abyss Actors can easily achieve OTKs combining their swarming options with all kinds of disruptive and advantageous effects to have the upper hand.
"Abyss Actor - Superstar" will prominently become the boss monster of the whole archetype due his potential to complete the archetype's setups. In the Pendulum Zone "Superstar" allow us to tribute an Abyss Actor to retrieve an Abyss Script from the Graveyard, becoming pretty useful to recover some of the key Spell Cards involving the build. But "Superstar" will become a serious threat as a monster, as not only his arrival cannot be answered with Spells or Traps (Except Counter Traps negating his summon), but each turn will let us Set an Abyss Script Spell to the field from inside our Deck. Said Abyss Script will only last a turn on the backrow before destroys itself at the End Phase, but in most circumsantces we will activate it as soon "Superstar" takes it out from our Deck. With the majority of Abyss Scripts providing powerful outcomes to our Abyss Actors, "Superstar" is the finishing touch to take full dominance of the Duel while working with the rest of members.
As the leading monster of the entire archetype, "Superstar" requires all help necessary to be on the field and provide his abilities as soon as possible. Abyss Scripts have a second effect if destroyed while Set, so we can obtain "Superstar" if either "Abyss Script - Rise of the Abyss King" or "Abyss Script - Abysstainment" are taken down from teh field even by the effect of another "Superstar" during the End Phase. "Abyss Actor - Extras" can tribute itself to place "Superstar" in our Pendulum Zone, while the defeat of "Abyss Actor - Wild Hope" will instead add him to our hand. If we have the proper Scales to Pendulum Summon "Superstar", the Trap "Abyss Actors Back Stage" will immediately place him inside our Extra Deck ready to be brought to the field. However, keep on mind that the recent addition of the Extra Monster Zone has limited the Extra Deck outcomes by Pendulum Summon unless with the assistance of Link Monsters, so if needed try to work along the effects of "Abyss Actor - Dandy Supporting Actor" and "Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser" to retrieve "Superstar" and other members to our hand and be brought together without any difficulties.
With a summon almost impossible to answer against, "Superstar" will safely provide his ability to obtain Abyss Scripts which can be immediately activated afterwards. Our main target to look by "Superstar" effect will be "Abyss Script - Rise of the Abyss King", destroying as many face-up cards as different Abyss Actors on our board, and with "Superstar" pressence it becomes impossible to chain against and assure a devastating outcome. If the opponent doesn't have any noticeable targets, instead we can look for "Abyss Script - Fire Dragon's Lair" to banish cards in their Extra Deck and limit their summons in future turns. If the opponent controls a tough monster and we cannot obtain the assistance of members such as "Abyss Actor - Funky Comedian", we can search for "Abyss Script - Fantasy Magic" to give us a bouncing effect when battling against the enemy. Remember that Abyss Scripts searched by "Superstar" will destroy themselves during the End Phase, and although seems a flaw actually will trigger their secondary effects, ranging from the mentioned searching ability of "Abysstainment" to replenishing our hand with "Abyss Script - Opening Ceremony".
While his effect in the Pendulum Zone along a low Scale will have solid uses, "Abyss Actor - Superstar" stands out as a monster with his searching effect and safe summoning. Together with the rest of Abyss Actors, "Superstar" can range from finishing off Duels by looking for "Abyss Script - Rise of the Abyss King" to taking advantage of the Abyss Scripts' effects when destroyed while Set. With solid assistance from other cards including solutions to the new rules arround the Extra Monster Zone, "Superstar" will arrive and immediately provide what the archetype is missing to the proper situation. Easily becoming the most menacing monster of the whole build, "Superstar" is the prime example of Abyss Actors only needing each other to take full dominance of any scenario.
Personal Rating: A+
+ If in the Pendulum Zone can tribute Abyss Actors to retrieve Abyss Scripts from our Graveyard + The opponent cannot activate Spells or Traps against his summon + Searches an Abyss Script in our Deck and Sets it on our field + Well supported along several Abyss Scripts to look for the proper situation + Can trigger the effects of Abyss Scripts if are left Set
- Searched Abyss Scripts will be destroyed during the End Phase - Pendulum Zone effect will barely have much uses - Might have lost some efficiency due the Extra Monster Zone
