As soon as Lily felt the first icy raindrop land on her arm, she knew she’d made a mistake choosing not to bring her umbrella. The dark clouds had threatened to spill rain all day, but only when she was walking home from the mines did the weather forecast prove to be true. Hoping it was just a light rain, she continued on into Mineral District, quickening her pace in hopes of making it home before the rain truly started.
But only a few minutes later, the rainfall was coming down heavy and fast, drenching the ravenette in freezing water. She had to find shelter, and quickly, if she didn’t want to catch a cold. A few steps in front of her was the entrance to a shop, though she wasn’t sure which shop it was. However, it looked open, and it was shelter from the rain, so Lily didn’t spend long deliberating whether to enter or not. She pushed open the door and hurried inside.
Looking around, it was fairly obvious once inside that she’d entered a pet shop. Lily had no interest in pets, but she would feel uncomfortable making it obvious that she was only waiting for the rain to stop. So she offered a smile to the man behind the till and strolled over to a cage containing what looked to be a parakeet: vibrant green in colour and chirping. Larger birds didn’t appeal to Lily, but this little one was quite cute. She was so focused on viewing the pet that she almost didn’t notice the employee approach her.
