Alice was sat in her apartment. Or dump, as she called it. It wasn’t that it wasn’t impeccably decorated, and it was incredibly clean, no. The apartment was perfect in terms of design. It was just so small. And she had to deal with having neighbours, seeing people walking around. It was so common.
She was still shocked that people had donated 50,000G to “save” the Goddess Pond. Why could no one else see that what she was doing was for the good of the city? They acted as if her goal was to cause disharmony and evil. She needed someone to talk too, so she messaged one of her only friends, Charles.
[RoboCharles]: I assume you know by now, they’ve ‘saved’ the Goddess Pond.
[RoboCharles]: Why? Why were they so adamant that such a junkyard be saved? Why is it that no one else can see that what I’m doing, what my company is doing, is for the good of the city?
[RoboCharles]: The letters these people send me. It’s disgusting, it’s like they were all raised in a barn (Well, they probably were, the little hicks.) - They speak to me like I’m dirt! You see my vision, don’t you Charles? You agree with what I’m doing? Sometimes I feel as you’re my only friend.
She paused at the last text she sent. It was perhaps… A little too emotionally charged.
[RoboCharles]: Excuse the end of that last message. You know I don’t normally feel a need to express my feelings like that.
Suffice to say, when Charles learned that the city raised enough money to save the Goddess Pond, he was less that pleased. So few in this place seemed to realize the benefits that could come with it being destroyed and replaced with something better, though he supposed it might have been inevitable. After all, it was a place many in Altelia cared about, for some reason. Going after a place like that, there would be more people intent on stopping Funland’s progression.
Other than it being a good way to make a statement, Charles didn’t follow Alice’s logic in choosing it at the first targeted location.
But that was besides the point. It wasn’t as if they could change the past, the only choice was to keep moving forward. Speaking of Alice though, she had sent him some texts.
[ to Wonderland Alice: ] I have heard the news. It is unfortunate.
[ to Wonderland Alice: ] Peasants are often adverse to changes, even if they are for the better. Or they act as sheep and simply follow the herd. Perhaps they need only to be taught better.
[ to Wonderland Alice: ] You have known where I stand since you started your plan, Alice. I agreed with it when you first made me aware of it, my stance has not changed.
The end of her third message game Charles pause. Of course, he did think of his boss as a friend, they had known each other for years prior to this arrangement. What she said in the fourth message was right, she didn’t usually express things like that. Neither of them typically expressed their feelings like that, and it was part of how their dynamic worked.
There were a few moments before he typed out a simple response.
[ to Wonderland Alice: ] Of course, Alice.
