One Date | Felicity & Raguna

In all honesty, the reason she had placed herself on sale at the date auction is to help raise money for the Masquerade. That’s the truth. It doesn’t occur to her that she is going to have to spend time with someone she might not even know until she’s standing on the stage. It’s cold up here, the wind brushing her cheeks numb and her hair flying about. All eyes on her right now but she’s used to that.

She does not expect to be sold for much. Public opinion of her is... divided, let’s say. They’re divided but Felicity will be strong in her own opinions. Although she thinks the cold day might make her illness worse if she stays out here long...

Then, to her complete surprise, Raguna bids on her. 

She looks at him, open-mouthed in unexpected emotion. He likes her enough to spend money in order to spend time with her...? She’s already living in his flat due to his kindness... A warm feeling spreads across her heart. When her time is up, she carefully steps down off the stage and finds her way to him.

“Good afternoon, Raguna,” she smiles softly up at him. Hers is one of the last sell-offs. The auction is nearly over. “Well, you bought me so I suppose you decide where we go?”

Date Auction Hero

Leia was incredibly relieved that someone bid on her at all, and actually really happy that it was Wizard who did the bidding. They seemed to run into each other at random a lot, so it was almost fitting.

Once the bids were done, she ran over to her white haired friend and took hold of his hands as she stared into his eyes with a bright smile on her face. “Wizard, thank you so much for bidding on me! Did you have anything in mind you’d like to do? I could always cook for you, if you like.”

He wasn't quite sure what to do at that auction-- the notion of buying someone for a date was so odd. Then again, most human tradition was both odd and new to him, so he allowed himself to be swept along the oddity once again, this being his first festival where he actually participated.

He had been looking for ways to spend his money and... apparently, the profit would fund a masquerade ball. It didn’t seem so bad, considering he had much to spend. While he wanted to try his luck and maybe buy a certain someone, but alas, she was not in the list of people that volunteered. Perhaps it was because she was happily in the arms of someone. But then again, she bought a date. A girl. But still. It was a date.

Understanding this whole auction business woudl take some time, it seems.

Waiting away from the crowd, he opted to let the auction end first before approaching his supposed date. But before he could do it himself, she was already running towards him and-- being touchy. Slowly, he retracted his hands from hers and shook his head, wondering why she was thanking him so much.

“Someone else would have, if I have not.” He says so honestly, as he looks away from the mermaid. “...i’m... not very familiar with how dates go. Food would be nice...”

Meeting of the Blondies - Claire and Muffy

Claire was still feeling a wee bit bummed out that Neil hadn’t showed up. She should have known better than to even hope, but as he liked to remind her, she was dumb and pathetic.

Still, it had surprised her that so many people had been nice enough to bid on her. She’d worried that she’d have no bidders and just stand there like a moron. It wasn’t like she was popular by any means.

As she headed over to her blonde haired winner, Claire smiled at her sheepishly and raised a hand in greeting. She was sure she’d seen the blonde before, probably back in school, but they had definitely not hung out that she could remember. Muffy was gorgeous and not the type that would normally like a farm-girl like Claire.

So, why...?

“Hey! Thanks for buying me?” Claire replied with an anxious chuckle, holding out her hand to her in a friendly gesture. “You’re Muffy, right? I’m Claire. Did we... Go to high school together or something? You sure look familiar!”

Connect | Harvest King & Sharron

Much reminiscently of the Goddess Festival, Ignis does not know why or how he has been signed up. More pressingly, who. He would have to discover who continues to sign him up for these without his consent and for what intent they did so. This surely could not continue. He is the Harvest King! He will do his duty that has been unwillingly handed to him, but he will not be priced and bought like a slab of meat!

He stands upon the stage when it is his turn, straightened up to his full height. He glares out over the crowd of mortals and Romulus and Remus bark at his feet. To his surprise, the oracle Sharron buys him. Better than an enemy, he does acknowledge. He did not foresee that, but of course how could he foresee the actions of an oracle, those who peer into the future for the gods?

He does not wait until after the auction is finished. With an impassionate glance, he strides up to Sharron, dogs in his arms. He strikes at the heart of the issue. “Sharron, what does this spending time together entail, exactly?”

He stares at her without blinking. Romulus and Remus wag their tails and bark at the sight of Sharron.

Up for Sale || Mark & Karen

When the auctioneer called for Karen to take the stage she stood up from her spot in the crowd. Was she nervous? Hell no. Karen was ready to take center stage and work it. She knew she looked damn fine in her outfit and knew she’d get a high bid. 

She walked on the stage and the auctioneer told the crowd bidding would start at 500G. Placing her hands on her hips, Karen stared at the potential bidders with her best smile. The one that usually got her the things she wanted. 

However, no sooner than the bidding start did she hear a voice cry out. 5,000G. It was easy to find the one who just bit five thousand G on her, but she was no less surprised by who it was. 

Mark was there. And he just bid a crap ton of money on her. Everyone else seemed shocked as well. The auctioneer called out if anyone else would like to bid higher. She was halfway tempted to tell the auctioneer to close the bidding. 

Fortunately for Karen no one else went higher. It was surreal. Mark just bought her for 5,000G when she already agreed to go on a date with him. How in his right mind did that make sense? Even though she couldn’t fathom it, she couldn’t help but beam at him across the crowd.

Ignis is at a loss of words to speak.

Eve. That is her name. He had been standing there, watching the human festival that he did not truly understand. Why spend money on each other for each other’s time without consent of the one giving up their time as to who they are required to spend time with? Mortals, who demand equality yet have competitions. He had stood amongst the crowd, far taller than anyone else, his head bare to the wind and red braid tossed over his shoulder. No sunglasses. 

When he saw her, his heart had stopped. The woman from the marketplace, here again. Like it is fate, weaving this safety net between them. He is grounded when he looks at her. Red is his favourite colour. If he never had a favourite colour before this, he chooses to ignore that fact.

When he saw her, he participated without thinking. He could not let her go, not like when he had first saw her and she had... left him so bereft without her presence. Why? He does not understand. He never understands this feeling when he thinks of her. It is almost like mortality in his lack of understanding. Ignis is being irrational and he does not know what to do.

The auction is finished now. The sky rumbles above, clouded with thunder on the horizon. He is on the earthy ground, dirt in his fingernails where one of his hands had clenched into the grass. His legs are stretched out, Romulus and Remus upon them. His fingers shake as they stroke Remus’ fur. His mouth is dry. She approaches. Eve... what an astoundingly beautiful name.

He gazes at her, still speechless.

Auction Ender

On top of her own date, Leia decided to big on Zavier, as he looked so nervous and cute up there all by himself. She won him for 800Gs.

Auction Thoughts Diary - July 19

Well, it’s all over... It feels sort of bittersweet. I mean, I don’t really know what I thought would happen.

I tried to win VIolet, but got outvoted and decided to just... Bid on one of the guys there I haven’t met. He seems really quiet and well mannered, so I don’t know if he’ll like me or not, but I figured why not? Neil said I had to go on a date, so there. I’ve made one.

I was... Kind of hoping he’d show up to bid on me, but... It seems I was being stupid yet again.

Surprisingly, Vishnal, Nami, Frey and Muffy all ended up bidding on me and I was sold for 4k, which I can’t believe. I don’t think I’ve met Muffy before, although she seems oddly familiar. Maybe I saw her around school before? 

Well... I guess everything turned out okay in the end. I still wonder if Neil was the one who signed me up. I guess if he was trying to keep me busy dating other people, it worked...
