Hello there! Seeing as you are diving into the shatterpoint Lineage and Mace and Depa, I was wondering do you have any thoughts on Depa or any recommendations on what to read ? I would love to get to know Depa's character better. Thank you very much for this wonderful blog by the way!

Well there's really not all that much content about her, so aside from Shatterpoint (Legends), the Kanan comics (Disney, but then retconned by the Bad Batch) and maybe some *very* briefs appearances in books like Master and Apprentice, Queen's Shadow and the Phantom Menace novelization I can't think of much :/

I think she's mentioned in the New Dawn novel (Disney, Rebels era). Beyond that, I'm afraid it's mostly fanfics, and the first episode of the Bad Batch if you're willing to suffer through it...

As for my thoughts on her... I absolutely adore the trivial detail of her canonically having a biological sister, (even though no book, comic or series, Legends or Disney, ever made use of that fact). Her characterization in the Kanan comics is really, really good - even better than her character in Shatterpoint, although less complex. Hmm, I love that she fits the theme of a future Jedi kid who got save from slavery or worse by a Master who'd then have a significant influence in her life (see Anakin and Qui-Gon, Plo and Ahsoka, and of course Depa and Mace). Ah, and I headcanon her as Obi-Wan's Soresu buddy, because in Rebels it's mentioned that it was her favored form as well. And I did call her one of those "dignified Jedi Masters that randomly start backflipping, chasing terrorists and giving death the finger while their poor, actually responsible Commanders scream in frustration" in that same post x)

Scenes that stuck with me from your fics? First meeting between Qui Gon and Obi Wan in the Maverick when Obi Wan is insulting himself under the rain and Qui Gon is leaning against his cafe's door. It was such a great scene!

Oh gods! That scene was so much fun to write! Obi-Wan calling himself all sorts because he did a dumb and tripped. Qui-Gon watching amused at the sight of this soggy ginger bitching himself out in the rain. Obi-Wan being all “oh no he’s hot!” while considering the possibility of “oh, he might try and kill me, oops”.

Ah... good times.

Scenes that stuck with me from your fics: in Sound the Abyss with Bitter in Hand, when Qui Gon wakes up from his surgery and discovers Obi Wan asleep on his arm. I loved it!

How did you come to write QuiObi fics? I'm curious to know, especially since The Maverick and Green Vine of Fates are totally AR.

Uh, that’s a good question actually. I was young when the prequels came out with Ewan and Liam playing Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon respectively. Before then, I’d grown up with a mother who liked Star Wars, and two older brothers who loved Star Wars and Star Trek, so I was always exposed to it all. But the prequels were when I really kinda went “I like this”. Life happened and I moved on but still came back to Star Wars every now and then. When I started writing fic, it was for fandoms I was active in. By chance, mostly. I discovered I wasn’t bad at writing fic and that it was fun. So I kept doing it.

Then, about five or so years ago, I kinda dragged myself out of the hellscape of SPN on tumblr and tried to reinvent my tumblr (but not delete bc I had spent ages on this damned blandog and I ain’t giving that up for nothin). I went through BBC Sherlock and Doctor Who before I, somehow, found myself wandering in Star Wars and Star Trek.

Star Trek actually came from Doctor Who and Star Wars from Star Trek; that was my path to where I am now - i.e. all over the fucking place, lol.

Writing fic for QuiObi was, if I recall, a prompt thing. I did it for the sake of it. Someone sent an ask prompt and it was QuiObi and I went “okay then” and did just that. Then I made the acquaintance of several people in the SW fandom (a number I’m not in like the most laid back poly relationship ever with), and that built up into more consistent fic writing for SW.

I had some Jurassic World stuff going on when @ricooola / @kyberpunk and I were talking about fic and QuiObi and then it was a lot of “HEY WHAT IF YOU WROTE A COFFEESHOP AU KAT!” and... yeah... The Maverick happened.

Green Vine also happened because of @kyberpunk because, again, it was a “HEY WHAT IF YOU WROTE A HOGWARTS AU KAT!” and my brain just went away with it and threw me fic. 

Generally speaking, most of my fics come about organically from speaking to people about stuff to do with the fandom. My Jurassic World fic came about from a comment with @maawi where I kinda was like “what if.... mutants.... were a thing... in Jurassic World....” and then it went the way it did and I was like “okay then, lets go”. The same holds true for pretty much every other fic I’ve ever written. There’s always some sort of influence from someone for what I write, the general premise, but the expansion and building and foundations etc? That’s all me. 

Unfortunately. I’m essentially a victim of pluns often thought up by others lol
