Since I found out I will be moving in to my very own studio apartment, I’ve spent hours on Pinterest finding the perfect decorations, interior and just getting ideas on how I want my place to look like to make it feel more like home.
Once I actually got to the place and saw it, it is an understatement to say that some of my most of my ideas were impossible to fit into that space. But then, I couldn’t relay on Pinterest anymore, I had to do it myself, and figure out a way to make that place feel like home.
So I’ve decided to share a few easy steps to help you out when Pinterest fails you.
1. Work from your own resources
Check out the area, look for shops that have home departments and see what they have and what could you imagine in your own apartment. Something that fits your apartment, your style and your wallet.
2. Write a list
A list will help you keep organised, and make sure that you buy what is necessary. Impulsive shopping may not be the best idea just yet. First try and stick to your plan and your vision. Later on you can improvise.
3. Use pictures
I love polaroids and normal pictures, so why not use those on your wall. That way your apartment will be filled with love instantly, since you get to look at your best friends and loved ones every day.
4. Use small fairy lights
They are cheaper than normal lights, and create an amazing atmosphere in your room. If you get ones with cute shapes they even fit your room. Or you can get ones with clips, so you can clip the pictures or motivational quotes there to always remind you. 5. Buy small accessories
Get a cute pillow or throw to make your bed look nicer and more welcoming. Get a colourful plate or mug to make you happy when you use it. Small things make big impacts, because in a tiny space they stand out very well. My go-to accessories are pillows, because I love lounging in my bed and just chilling out. Also a cute laptop supporter with a nice colour can make a difference. And you can use it for food in bed as well.
6. Flowers or plants
It might seem like a cliche but they do make a whole lot of difference. They make the place look alive and they improve the smell as well. Or if you don’t like to water them or take care of them, get some fake flowers for the sake of the colours. You won’t regret your decision because it will put a smile on your face every time you look at them.
You don’t need to follow this list, you can make up your own. I just wanted to give you a tiny bit of help and inspiration of how to decorate and what to do when Pinterest fails you. I hope it helped, and I can’t wait to show you what I did with my room. (See below tiny fragmance)
