Hi Ace! I think it was yesterday that I noticed you've reblogged gif sets of the latest Superman movie. Are you a Superman fan by any chance??
I'm asking out of sheer curiosity because Superman is my absolute favorite DC superhero and simply one of my favorite all-time hero characters, period. I LOVE HIMMMM. The only reason I haven't watched the latest film yet is because I'm afraid of getting swept away and distracted by the shininess of David Corenswet in the role!
Hello, Naneth!
I cannot unfortunately claim to be a Superman fan. My brother, however, is a big Superman fan (from the comics, not the Snyder films, don't get him talking about how much he dislikes the Snyder films), so I do have general positive feelings towards him and I have great respect for the people who like him. (I find it kind of interesting that both you and my brother really like him so much, you are quite similar in quite a few ways now I think of it.)
However, I did very much enjoy the most recent Superman film. I'm not usually interested in superhero films (apart from the Spiderverse films, obviously, those films are peak), but seeing the trailer for that film really grabbed me because it seemed so genuine and warm and vibrant, and it absolutely is! It has so much colour and heart and has just such an emotionally honest and open core to it. I will admit to crying (okay, that may have been partly due to my great-uncle dying the day before, but the scenes in question were still so good and so touching) while watching that film.
You're going to love it when you watch it, I'm sure. David Corenswet does absolutely deliver, and this is from someone who is typically very unmoved by the Massive Muscular Man. He actually had me going, "Yeah, I get it actually. Good catch, Lois," which is a reaction that Henry Cavill has never managed to conjure from me in any role.
All to say while I cannot call myself a Superman fan, I have enjoyed my limited exposure to him and I very much get why so many people love him.
