It’s basically our universe but has the magic of love and also queer friendly dry bars open until four am. 

Kaleidotrope: Do you have a ‘comfort podcast’?

I’m one of those people where if I listen to something that I’m not trying to figure out I won’t listen to it again because I’m satisfied with it and I sorta get bored despite loving the story if that makes sense. Like I’ve relistened to the Magnus Archives a few times because there’s lots of details to find in retrospect. But like the lovely comforting podcasts I’ve listened to (InnBetween, Sir Rodney the Root, TAZ Graduation) I’m sorta just happy to listen to once.

this is hard and changes all the time, but: The Broken Earth trilogy by NK Jemisin, The Sea, The Sea by Iris Murdoch, We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson, Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood and Beloved by Toni Morrison (sob)

3. what is your favourite genre?

i go through phases, but recently i’ve been super into fantasy (especially dystopian) and non-fiction, which is super general but takes into account all the books about chimpanzees, neurological case studies, LGBTQ history and intensely sad memoirs that i’ve been reading lately lol

6. what books have you read in the last month?

All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales by Oliver Sacks, And the Band Played On: Politics, People, and the AIDS Epidemic by Randy Shilts.

1: what inspires you?

-my friends, and other folks who make content for fandom, who are all so talented and creative and POWERFUL

-taz itself? like, in terms of tone, and theme... sounds silly to say but it really is a big inspiration, just in general but also for my fics

-the abrupt bursts of Extremely Strong Love that i feel for everything targetable, at intervals

6: hardest/easiest character to write for?

easiest: barry bluejeans! can you tell by the way he’s central in most of my fics? it’s because he’s very relatable. i have always connected strongly to being Defined By Love, and also a nerd.

hardest: probably taako? i just can’t get inside his head very well; i always feel like i’m writing him as a spectator, if that makes sense?

also john, but mostly because he has limited canon characterization, and 95% of it is in one specific context, making it difficult to take him out. it’s interesting to see people’s different takes on him.

33: favorite one-shot you’ve written?

overgrowth! it’s a johnchurch roleswap fic, and one of the (if not THE) only romance-centric things i’ve ever written? i had a lot of fun figuring out their characterizations and i ended up with something that i’m still genuinely proud of, even after being so anxious about posting it originally.

What was his favorite toy or snack? Were there any goofy or cute things he’d do?

He had this like, plush pea pod toy that was filled with catnip. We had that thing for YEARS. He would lay in the middle of the living room floor with all his legs around it, nibbling at it. He’d throw it around and chew it up, he’d spoon the thing. It got so gross and totally torn up. He dug all the catnip out of it. We eventually had to get rid of it a few years ago because it was basically just scraps.

We have a little box of cat toys in the living room and he’d go over to it and pick that pea pod out and bring it over to the middle of the floor to play with it. It was the cutest fucking thing.

He talked a lot. it was funny and adorable. You could hold a whole conversation with him and he’d make different sounds every time.

the emperor: what are some names that you like?Nina, Kelli, Alex, David, Myles, Maya, Francis, Sam, and Cameron. Off the top of my head those I know I really like a lot of older/old fashioned names but can’t think of any atmthe tower: favorite colors to wear?I really like wearing maroons and other dark reds, mustard, and golden yellows, darker oranges, purples especially leaning toward red purples, dark blues, whites, black, stuff with stripes, denim blues, and greys. the only colors I don’t really like are neons and certain pastels.
