Ace Day, November 26, 2022
As promised, I want to revive our old celebration of Ace Day starting this year. I’ve been looking over some old posts Zora made when she ran it, and while I haven’t worked out everything I want to do in the future, for this year I’d like to invite everyone to submit, send asks, or tag me in posts so I can share them. (I’ll be following the tag #AceDay, but we all know that’s no guarantee that I’ll actually see everyone’s posts.)
So here are the basics of what I’d like us to do:
Choose an ace card, any card from any kind of deck, including tarot or others--make up your own if you want to--and tell us what that card means to you and why. I know that in the past we’ve assigned specific meanings to the traditional four suits, but I’d like to expand beyond that because our experiences are so much more varied than just four options allow.
Information about intersectionality would be particularly wonderful--tell us about the relationship between asexuality and your religious beliefs, your ethnicity, your race, your culture, your disabilities, other aspects of your identity, your experience of attraction (or lack thereof), and anything else you’d like to share.
I’d also love to have submissions of artwork (be sure to link to the original artist if it isn’t yours). If you write, tell us a story. If you like to dress up, send photos. Don’t be afraid if it seems silly--cake and dragons are just two of the things that have been associated with our community for years, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of in enjoying uncomplicated pleasures.
There are almost five hundred people following this blog, so I may not be able to post everyone’s submissions/asks precisely on the 26th, but I’ll get them all up as quickly as I reasonably can.
If you have anything else you’d like to see included, don’t hesitate to reach out.
