Fun thing about genetics! It actually makes up every part of who we are chemically. And since attraction would fall under that, it is arguable that being ace is genetic. Or at least something that someone could be genetically predisposed to being? Sexuality has the potential to sit on that fine line of nature versus nurture. I just find that very interesting. That being said, my mom and sister are allo, but by father is demi and I'm ace. So? Who knows.

This is exactly what I believe.

It sits a little in between both. I’ll be posting a story about my asexual experience in my personal ace blog soon, which will explore the nature of how I have come to define myself as asexual. I want to contribute it to the conversation once I’m finished with it and reblog it to this page.

Contributing to the genetics, my older sister is straight and our parents were straight. I'm a panromantic asexual. I'm not sure about my three other siblings though.

My sister and parents are all pretty straight, but I think my two aunts on my mom's side and great aunt on my dad's side all have a pretty decent chance at being ace or aro spec. We've never talked about it and I'm not out, but it just feels like they might be, which is so interesting to me. Maybe not all three are, but I'd bet if they learned about asexuality at least one would think it applied to them!

You know, probably. It’s interesting because only now are a lot of people learning about different sexualities and that we’re all normal and valid.

You know i didn’t discover there was a name for what I was until I was 22! So, you know, it’s never too late to find this kind of thing out.

more genetics things!!! my sibling is grey ace and im aro ace which is pretty interesting imo

that is indeed very interesting. It’s cool too see how we all differ in our sexualities, even when we are closely related.

Gonna contribute to the genetics discussion 😁 My brother was talking to me the other day and we discovered that he's likely ace as well. Thought it was interesting. My aunt may be ace as well from what my mom has said. I'm a lot like my aunt.

for the genetics thing: my parents are both aggressively heterosexual and somehow I turned outa biromantic ace lol.

My dad’s aggressively heterosexual. He’s also kind of a huge misogynist (our culture is pretty misogynist though so that explains a lot) Suffice it to say we don’t get along

edit: I accidentally hit post before I finished. But lol. Whatever.

my point is we don’t always inherit things directly from our parents. It’s really interesting to hear that. See, I always thought that was the norm - that is aces just popped up and were lonely in this hypersexualized world, and I was sad because we often get asks where people don't have family members at home to support them. before we all started having this conversation I thought me and mum might just be a coincidence.

i do still wonder if her het-demisexual status might have influenced me a bit genetically. I mean people believe I inherited my artistic talents from dad so why not right? But everyone’s story is different!

but to those aces who don't have close family members who get it, we are here for you and we are your ace family.

Kinda genetics related: I am ace and have a mild form of autism (PDD-NOS). My brother is hereto and does not have autism. I work at a school that handles students with autism and a noticeable number of them show no interest for romantic or sexual relationships. Not to say being asexual is caused by autism, but there can definitely be a link.

I want more asexual scientist to do research on this sort of stuff. Where’s the science side of asexual tumblr? The asexual psych side? Someone?

I’m a non-autistic asexual, so I admit I know very little on the subject.

I know that my pansexual bff has a hetero/possibly bi boyfriend who has autism. But I know that child is not asexual. That man is hella horny when he’s drunk. He might be when he’s sober too but he probably hides it better. Lol

But yeah… I dunno could be, anon. Could be.
